Can you remember visiting a buffet when you were young? It represented a vast stretch of freedom to load up your plate with whatever you wanted. When you're an adult, though, you start asking questions. Are you eating your money's worth? Did that kid really just stick his fingers in the mashed potatoes? Why is everything so sticky?
There's a good chance it's been a while since you've been to a buffet, and suspiciously sticky utensils aren't the only reason. So many people are skipping buffets that this sector of the industry is declining — more than you might think.

Neighbor was a big wig at an architectural firm in charge of adding bench seating at a major college football stadium. Don’t recall the seat widths, but the ones built in the 30’s were like 20” and the new ones, 25” That doesn’t take into account winter clothing either.
BINGO. I use to frequentt a Chinese place for lunch. Our crew was always the first of the day and had a pretty good lunch. We went one night for dinner. Little did we know it was peel and eat shrimp night. DISGUSTING. Massive mammals would sit at the table and sent their fat ill behaved children to keep going back to get bowls of shrimp. All licking their fingers and just scooping in the shrimp with their bare hands and then running it back to the table where they all were smacking and spitting all over the table. Horrifying. I left as I had left my appetite. ‘They’ were the only people doing it, everyone else was well behaved for buffet.
Whiskey and hot sauce keep the parasites in check...

Last buffet I had was a Kartzma in Zakopani Poland with my girlfriend. I don’t think I will be visiting any American buffets again.

Last time we went to a buffet, some woman brought her dog in there. The owner gave her the fish-eye, but said nothing. My wife and I debated whether to complain, but ended up keeping quiet. 10 minutes later, her dog goes poop on the floor and another customer steps in it.
We gave the owner grief on the way out. Never went back.

30 or so years ago this town got a Sweden House buffet. It was good food and, of course, all you care o eat. It did well for a while but then the normal healthy people started getting tired of waiting in long lines of severely obese people until the last time I passed the place there were only severely obese people in line. Sweden House closed a few weeks later. Couldn’t afford to feed the hogs.
They were already in charge.

Women, regardless of color, tend to be where you make your best money. Women tend to be more likely to fill up on carbs. Pasta salads, mashed potatoes, wads of bread, followed by cheap dessert. Event the ones that attempt to eat scrimps tend to over consume the carbs.
Its the touching, playing, fondling, slobbering, and other assorted disgusting behaviors that chase everyone else off so that they dont return.
The last time I was at a buffet there was a band of little helpers that were going over to the soft serve machine without a cone or bowl and sucking/licking directly from the nozzle once they were done serving the ‘rents.
I am not a fan of Golden Coral. I got fed up with standing in line to get into a restaurant many years ago. We have here a very high class Vietnamese restaurant that is really good and a hole in the wall cheap Oriental take-out with some tables that is cheap-$5.99- for more than I can usually eat of very good Chinese and Southeast Asian food. I sit down and bypass the l0-o-o-ong lines of take-out and get served quickly-. The Philipina owner keeps it cheap and good and does a tremendous volume and pays the staff well.
