I grew up drinking raw milk. We milked our cow daily, usually daddy did because he was so fast. I was a lot slower and momma’s hands were weak. Momma strained the milk through a cotton cloth into glass milk bottles. It’s surprising how much cream is in a quart of milk. I drank 3 large glasses a day for the 19 years I lived at home. Store bought milk tasted weak and flat.

We grew most everything we ate. Meals were heavy on vegetables, light on meats. I’m 72 now and healthier than most of my childhood friends who didn’t grow up on a family.

It’s no matter.

There’s no convincing those who resist independent thinking while simultaneously espousing Conservative values.

It’s one of the worst forms of hypocrisy.

I didn’t milk cows on a daily basis but I had raw milk quite often growing, recently I found a farmer at a local farmers market selling raw milk, my only mistake was buying only the half gallon instead of the whole gallon she was selling.

People against drinking raw milk have likely never had raw milk, it’s like a lot of food, it will spoil if you don’t keep it refrigerated, otherwise it’s fine to drink, I’ve had it basically right out of the cow.

It’s creamier than pasteurized whole milk, it’s easy to make butter from raw milk.

I equate this argument to people against eating pork from wild hogs versus farm raised pork. Hogs in the wild are eating things that come natural to them, not food containing steroids, etc., wild pork is fine to eat, same for venison, etc.

It’s hard to believe that there are others here who weren’t raised with raw milk. We had a dairy farm and drank nothing else. The dinner table had a pitcher of milk on it at every meal. I am a long way from those days - years away - and I still drink milk daily but not raw..simply because it’s not available. I was one of four siblings and the only one who continued to drink milk in later years...I was the youngest and they’re all gone now..

I have noticed that dairy farm kids who are exposed to all the filth of farm animals, generally eat from the garden, drink unprocessed well water and drink their own farm milk, at the healthiest kids going.

The immune system needs to be trained to fight disease and not slip into an allergic response kind of mode.

I’ve also heard that homogenizing milk is terrible for you. The homogenization process breaks the fat down into such tiny particles that it cannot come back together to rise to the topo. The theory is, and I don’t know that if it has been proven, that the fat particles are so small that they can pass through the lining of the stomach or intestines without being digested, thus the fat goes directly into the blood stream.

A real family itself is more rare.
