her son who was asleep in the house didn’t find her for 10 hours... her son must have sleep apnea and on a cpap machine not to hear 9 gunshots.My first thought as well; but the article did not describe what his disability was. Possibly he was deaf, and only came upstairs at noon to search for food.

Hard to say. The exact same item (door alarm wedge) appears on Amazon under many different brand names. So here’s what I did. I searched on Amazon for “door alarm wedge”, then I bought the one with the best reviews.
There are many door alarm wedges on Amazon with 4 1/2 or 5 star reviews. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.
Just be sure to carry a backup 9V battery with you when you travel. I’ve never had a battery go dead on me. But a little extra planning can’t hurt.
