This happened to a family member. His wife went through years of depression, along with heightened senses (she could hear literally everything in their house, which was three stories. Everything, and I mean everything, bothered her. She slept with multiple pillows and earplugs.), and a host of other things. Even after they split, he still helped her out by paying for clinics, treatments, and institutions. After about 3 years, she decided to off herself. She made appointments with her friends and family to say good-bye, and there was no talking about second chances, etc. She moved back to her parents house during this time. After all the good-byes (she thanked my family member, told him it wasn't his fault and all that), she got the meds in the mail and decided one night to take them. Her mother (!) found her the next morning.

She had gone through a lot. She and my family member were Believers. He was devastated and went through a time of funk himself. Her whole family, and even down to my end because we weren't that close, were wiped out by it. There are so many what if's that your mind goes through. I can't imagine how her parents, especially her mom, felt.

That said, the boyfriend is a coward. He won't fight for his girlfriend, won't try to convince her it's wrong. Won't try to find the cause, even if it costs a fortune, like my friend did. Won't stand up and say that he loves her and that they can somehow work it out. It didn't work for my friend, but it might with her. FWIW, the above scenario also played out in Holland. God brought another woman into my family member's life, and they are now married. He is happy now, and he treasures his wife. It took awhile for her to break through the pain, though. I know it was heavy sledding for awhile.

On the surface, we can say that such people are weak, or too woke, or whatever. There is a reason this woman wants to off herself, so pray fiercely that God would reveal it, so that she can be healed. Pray that the junk in her psyche from all the psychology stuff she studied would be blown out the door by the Love of Jesus. Pray for the boyfriend and the family to grow backbones. This is bad stuff, straight from the pit, but it can be redeemed. What say, Freepers? I'll pray for her. Who's in?
