Just to add on, the Guyana president schooled an inept reporter when the reported chastised him for drilling for oil and gas, and “creating 2 billion tons of co2” oh my!

The president said in response “our forests take in 90 GIGATONS” of co2”

That makes ehat looked like a large amount, 2 billion tons, insignicantly small in comparison to what forests absorb- infact, the 2 billion tons is insignificant- a tiny fraction of the 90 gigatons!

2 billion tons is nothing! It is easily taken care of with a massive amount of reserves to spare! Even 200 billion tons is nothing compared to the massive amounts of forests that cover the planet. We could create many many times the amount of co2 and still be nowhere near full capacity of the forests absorption powers!

Uh, you do realize that giga = 10^9 = billion?

So 2 is 1/45 of 90. Small enough, no argument, though hardly deserving “insignificant, tiny fraction” rethoric.

But why mix up “billion” and “giga” numbers as if they were somehow different? That part makes no sense at all.
