.380 is the perfect caliber to bring along on a foray into the wilderness. It is lightweight, has minimal recoil, and if you are attacked by a bear you can use it to shoot your companion in the foot.

LOL! My sister-in-law hikes all over Central Arizona. Lots of Lynx in that area. She carries a .380 with her everywhere. I wanted to be one of the first names on the latest background check list for 2024, so I went out and picked one up. Nifty little rascal. I keep it in the change pocket in my blue jeans.

Ahh, the slower person gets eaten first - I like it.
Actually, I'm more concerned with the human predators. Bears and rattlesnakes are much more predictable.
