X Users Didn't Like a Paper's Tone and Findings, So They Got It Rejected
Real Clear Wire ^

At Frontiers in Psychology, it seems that users on X are now part of the peer review process.

On January 4th, the paper "Meta-analysis: On average, undergraduate students’ intelligence is merely average," was accepted to the journal. That same day, the abstract was published with the notice that the "final, formatted version of the article will be published soon."

Soon thereafter, the paper went viral, quickly accruing over 54,000 views, wide discussion on X and Reddit, and coverage in popular media (including RCS). It garnered this attention for its intriguing yet simultaneously obvious finding: over the past 80 years, as a far greater proportion of North Americans attended college, the average IQ of college undergraduates dropped from around 120 to 102, just slightly above the average of 100.

While the finding of the study should be concerning enough, why Frontier's resistance to publishing is just as big: in short, they "didn't like the tone". In Left-speak, it translates to "it conflicts with our worldview".

That is how you get results from the recent Google AI fiasco to Lysenkoism to Galileo being condemned.

This goes along with the Left’s demonization of IQ scores, or any objective measurement of anything.

That’s because lefties are nothing but bullies and spoiled brats in need of a good hard spanking.

What’s their beef? It doesn’t say they’re stupid, it just says they’re not special.

If the topic is IQ and only the facts are in evidence then it will be publish and perish...

“...over the past 80 years, as a far greater proportion of North Americans attended college, the average IQ of college undergraduates dropped from around 120 to 102, just slightly above the average of 100.”

This is not surprising...ANYONE gets into “college” these days. And the complainers are proving the point.

Apparently the study was flawed by omission of Lake Woebegone University, where all the undergraduates are above average.

On the serious side, the real “flaw” in the study is that the results are axiomatic. Elimination of merit-based/competitive admissions standards, and democratization of who attends colleges will always result in the student body’s average IQ matching the average of the general population.

Oh, most of them are dumb... this is the mean IQ; they are propped up by the STEM majors. I would guess for Physics, electrical engineering, software engineering, non-education mathematics, etc. you would find IQs at or over 120, with some pushing 160, while non-STEM would be below 100.

Only 0.13% of the population has a 145 IQ. It is estimated that maybe 1 in a billion have 160. Einstein and Hawking were both 160.

George Carlin once said something like, “Think about how stupid the average person is. Now, realize that half the population is stupider than that.”

Uniformity and conformity are intelligence killers.

Even if the leftists were well intended-

we were FAR better off with differentiation of education.

People in the 50’s came from an extremely diverse backgrounds, brought different creativity and imaginations for the future.

People now are educated almost identically, inhibiting creativity, imagination and curiosity. The result is dumber people.

My brother was given an IQ test when he entered college. He scored in the low 170s. The Psychology Department was intrigued and gave him more. His score went up a bit with each one they gave him. It made him a bit hard to take for awhile.

Twitter is back to conservative censorship in a major way. Shadow banning, the withholding of posts by conservatives so no one sees them, is rampant. Also, liberal accounts that are nothing but automation responses are out in force instead of getting banned.
