Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York will campaign with former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire on Friday night at a campaign rally in Concord, a source tells CBS News. Soon afterward, Stefanik tweeted about her plans.

This is the first time Stefanik – who is also the House GOP chairwoman – will join Trump as he tries to win the New Hampshire primary. Her appearance also comes at a time where she is rumored to be among the potential picks to be Trump's running mate.(snip)

This is the first time Stefanik – who is also the House GOP chairwoman – will join Trump as he tries to win the New Hampshire primary. Her appearance also comes at a time where she is rumored to be among the potential picks to be Trump's running mate.

Stefanik was among the first members of Congress to endorse Trump in the presidential primary season in November 2022, when he announced his third bid for the White House. She's viewed as a loyal ally to Trump, according to sources.

Recently, Stefanik called on former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to drop out of the presidential race and back Trump.

"I am calling on every other candidate — all of whom have no chance to win — to drop out, so we can unify and immediately rally behind President Trump so that we can focus 100% of our resources on defeating Joe Biden to Save America," she wrote in a statement.

Last December, Stefanik won rare bipartisan praise for questioning top university presidents about why administrators hadn't yet punished students or eliminated student groups using hateful and violent language against Jews.

She’s not the right person. Trump will be a one-term President, and he needs to pick the perfect VP so the electorate will know exactly who will succeed him. Anyone with any sort of mushy middle-ground beliefs is unacceptable.

I doubt that her as VP has ever crossed his mind. Of course, now that the media has done their thing...he'll be asked to confirm.

I could see her as Speaker someday (in 10-15 yearsmaybe) and cracking the whip like Pelosi.

She’s more effective in the House right now.

Yes, it's time for Ron and Nimrata to enthusiastically get on the Trump train, that is IF they are real Republicans.

Trump needs to pick the best person and not fall into the DEI mindset and pick a woman just because she is a woman. If the best person is a woman, fine. Stefanik isn't as bad as Haley but there are probably a lot of better choices.

Trump should pick someone who could be a plausible Presidential candidate in 2028 and is someone the Deep State hates...so they won't try to kill him to make that person President.

For Trump to pick Nikki would be the worst mistake since Abraham Lincoln had Andrew Johnson (a Democrat) as his running mate in 1864. The difference is that it would guarantee the ticket losing.

DAMN! I think it’s a done deal as the call has probably been made. Sometimes Trump has bad judgement in choosing people! Not too excited about her… might as well just choose Kari Lake…now she is a fireball! Love her!

I would love Kari Lake as veep, but the country needs her in the US Senate and to clean up AZ election integrity.

Stefanik is way better than Nimarata.

He’s not going to decide who his running mate for a long time. Five reasons off the top of my head:

1) The longer be delays, the less time his enemies have to work on destroying his pick.
2) It is a show of weakness to choose early. It’s like saying “Trump is not enough - we need someone to complete the ticket and offset his weaknesses”
3) It empowers him to have people vying for the position - like any negotiation, you get a better desk if you get people bidding against each other.
4) Its great press - the intrigue and mystery of who he will pick.
5) Whoever he picks, some of his supporters will be disappointed - so it’s best to wait until everyone else has dropped out.

I suspect she's smart enough to turn around any gotcha deal right back on the stupid reporter.

Agreed.
Not VP material at this time.

Oh please.

Stefanik and Sarah Huckabee Sanders have more XY chromosonal fight in them than the milquetoast guys being trotted out as VP picks.

And let’s look at history…previous male Veeps….Bidet, Pence, Gore, Quayle, Dubya Sr, and Liz Cheney’s dad. I’d take a qualified woman over any of these dopes any day.

And imagine the VP debate with Word Salad. I may watch that one.

Give her a tryout. She is definately an improvement on Pence. MTG or Gaetz would be excellent.

I’ve been reading her weekly newsletter for two years and have been impressed. She works very hard representing her large rural district that extends from just north of Albany, up to the Canadian border and west to Lake Ontario. She works harder for her district than any other representative I follow.
