In November, egg prices rose by 40.29 percent year-on-year

40%...that's it???? I guess the author has never been in a US grocery store.

No joke! around here eggs are +100% or so, but I've definitely seen prices bigger than that :/

While we don't have the land (yet), luckily my mom has several chickens so we get a free dozen every week or two! Wonder why more Russians haven't bought 2-3 chickens if regular eggs are really turning into gold up there...

We had a significant increase in egg and chicken prices a year or two ago. A fowl pandemic was the cause requiring the killing of many hens for medical reasons. Those prices are only now starting to go down. Actually for plain white eggs they are pretty low again. But there are a lot of specialty eggs, like brown, organic, free range, etc. that can be a lot higher. I wonder if Russia is having some bird illness problems?

On the other hand the price for gas at economy stations in the mid Atlantic areas I have driven through in the past two weeks have hovered around the $3.00 mark. Sometimes they are a few cents less, sometimes a few nickles or dimes more. That is for the economy stations. Stations in affluent communities or neighborhoods can be somewhat higher.

Also at Walmart and some other grocery stores the gallon of milk prices are also in the same price range as a gallon of gas. That is for the house brand of whole white, 2%, 1%, and skim milk.
