Imagine if federal, state, and local governments required all churches to register with the government, and imposed restrictions their activities, such as requiring a congregation to be registered and active for 15 years before they could open a bank account, let alone purchase a building .

Russia is a dictatorship, that uses bureaucracy to harass unapproved Christian churches.

You should try reading the threads occasionally and concentrate less on trolling them.

With my help I feel confident you’ll begin to see our own failures as a government, rather than looking abroad.

Those restrictions came from western perv governments using religious NGOs and missionaries to push for color revolutions. At the same time they banished most western NGOs.

An astute move.

The comparison between Putin’s intelligence background before becoming president and GHWB is valid.

‘Weird stuff’ would be your earlier comments about Trump and getting arrested in DC in May 1971.

You guys should read the threads, a simple one-sentence correction to an incredibly wrong biography in post 30 was just that, a one-sentence correction.

“Russia now teaches the Bible in schools, protects children”

That just goes to show how phony they are. What is going on in Ukraine is not Christian by any means.

From Putin’s POV, yup! From the POV of the tens of millions under the thumb of the USSR, not so much.

I am not taking a dig at Catholicism. I am Catholic LOL!

I guess you missed my point.

Sorry...

My point was: Some presumably US citizens here are in love with Russia’s religious situation. Which is a state religion, Orthodoxy, (basically Catholicism without a Pope), financial support of that Church, and suppression of other Christian denominations. If its good for Russia, why not USA?

Because we were founded on a different basis. We do not and should not have a state church

The greatest catastrophe was the October Revolution, which gave Marxism both a foothold and a militancy that has never left, even as the foothold has morphed over the century.

The Russian Monarchy was a mess before the October Revolution.

And that is the rub. There are people who praise Russia for being so “Christian” compared to the US (not true really) but ignore the fact that it is achieved with governance that they abhor.

Yes it is easy to make society “moral” when you are an authoritarian and civil rights are not considered. The USSR was big on pointing out our debauchery back in the day. Would you want the Soviet system so you do not have to suffer seeing homosexuals?

That is why it was said by a Founding Father that American system of self governance is suitable only for a moral people. If the morality is lost, the society goes to heck as the freedoms are perverted to legitimize all kinds of crap and that is what is happening here.

There are people on the left and right who are more than willing to trash our freedoms to create their own version of utopia. Used to predominately a left wing thing, but not so much any more.

*off soapbox*
