The deceased suspect in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas shooting which killed three people and the gunman has been named.
Anthony Polito, 67, has been identified as the shooter who opened fire on the UNLV campus just before 12pm on Wednesday.
He had applied for a professorship at the college but was rejected, according to reports.
Polito was armed with a handgun when he opened fire on the campus and killed three people before he was shot dead by police in a shootout on Wednesday morning.
A search of Polito's home is currently underway as detectives work through the night to continue their investigation.
Polito spent more than 15 years working as an associate professor at East Carolina University.
He was educated at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business where he gained a Doctor of Philosophy.
Polito also listed he achieved a Master of Business Administration at The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and attended Radford University where he completed a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics and Statistics as a double major.
His failed job application was reported by 8 News Now, with sources telling the site that he may also have had connections to a person who works on campus.
On his LinkedIn page, Polito claimed to enjoy hearing positive feedback from his students.

For sure. I was at VT in the early 80's and still don't remember how I got back to Blacksburg a few times. At that time Radford's ratio was 3:1 female to male and from what I recall, it had recently gone co-ed so that's another weird part of this guy's past.
As far as Radford being the female version of VT, it was mostly liberal arts from what I saw. Also, there were quite a few decent looking females in VT Engineering at the time so they had options and Radford shouldn't have been one of them for STEM.
Radford is a good school now. The town is very pleasant and I go there quite a bit.

What????? He did not use an AR15? What are all of the people who are continually blaming the AR15 for all of the shootings going to say or do now?
He could have sued for age discrimination but he was did not.
...and has a 47 page resume online that mentions every paper he every wrote and every class he ever taught.
That's standard for an academic.
