Try and find a TV or movie that portrays an American black family in a positive light. I can think of very few, practically nonexistent.

Every TV show or movie depicts blacks as drug dealers, drug abusers, gangstas, criminals or deadbeats on welfare with few redeeming qualities.

And they call us racists. All they need do is look at Hollywood’s portrayal of them.......................

If I remember correctly, Lear had a fairly polite relationship with Rush Limbaugh. When Lear was producing his new sitcom around 1994 or so, set in the old Bunker house and featuring a young black conservative, Lear called up Rush and sent over some episodes of it. Rush actually praised the tone of the show and expressed some admiration that Lear would create such a character.

Rush doing that with someone at ideological odds made an impression on me. It said that conservatism must always have the high ground, no matter how ugly and mean the opposition gets. Conservatives should never compromise but they can be the better person.
