The Brian Ferentz saga at Iowa is coming to an end.
Ferentz, the son of longtime Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, will not return to the Iowa coaching staff in 2024. Ferentz will stay with the team through its bowl game, but this will be his last season with the program, Iowa athletic director Beth Goetz announced Monday.

Kirk set up his son to fail at what is a very stale program. He’s been at Iowa for too long.
Michigan State is looking for a head coach.
Michigan could very well be looking for a new coach as well, if the sign stealing proves to be true.
Just like the Paterno’s at Penn State.
When Joe installed his totally unqualified son to be quarterback coach (actually the offensive coordinator), the team went downhill fast. From 2000 to 2004 they had losing seasons in 4 of those years.
Jay Paterno would call plays as if he were playing John Madden football on the Xbox. A complete waste.
Good news. The Iowa defense has been carrying the team for a long time.
Now that’s funny.
On a more serious note, there’s some video out there of last year’s OSU/Michigan game, the camera angle is at field level, showing OSU with the ball and the Michigan bench in the background, the OSU QB looks over to the sideline to get a new play, when the offensive play is signaled in, the assistant accused of stealing signs immediately goes to the side of the defensive coordinator and tells him something, immediately the coordinator and all the players around them start signaling a new defensive call. It doesn’t prove anything but is really suspicious.
By ironic if Harbaugh replaces Belichick in New England.
Fair or not, Harbaugh is in the crosshairs of the NCAA, I think he will get suspended for a reasonably long time, which I think causes him to move on to the NFL.
Just like Pete Carroll.
Kirk Ferentz is the most overpaid coach in the country. His teams are always the lousiest of the best and the best of the lousiest. On the other hand, Iowa doesn’t want to get stuck in a cycle of last place. A real case of no risk, no reward.
Now that’s funny.
Here’s video I was referring to. It seems obvious to me what’s going on, but I could be wrong.

The Iowa program has always been a player developmental program. Ferentz recruits mostly 3 star high school athletes and turns them into NFL players. Iowa usually ranks in the top ten of universities with the number of graduates playing in the NFL.
Most current Iowa head coaches are long-tenured and successful.
This Lions fan certainly loves Iowa for Sam LaPorta.
Iowa can only be better than that if the state develops a top-notch QB that wants to play at Iowa.
Iowa is O-line and TE U and usually has a top-rate defense. It will never compete with the top schools for QBs, WRs or RBs.
Why would Harbaugh want to go to New England? If Michigan lets him go, he’ll have his choice of the best NFL job available.
But, it will never get four or five star WRs, RBs or QBs unless one comes from the state.
I agree with you. Maybe their recruitment of offensive skill players will change with a new Offensive Coordinator.
