Many years ago a coworker said a young part time employee said “I did my regular hours and then first Vickie and then Jason asked me to fill in for their hours. So for last week I actually worked 40 hours like a full time employee.”
The rest of us got a good laugh over that exhausting sacrifice for one week of her life.
I once had a “manager” talk about how he worked for “two straight hours” on something.
This was in my Big 6 days.
Most of us were doing 60-70 hours each week including travel time.
One two week period it was 175 hours. I slept on the floor at the client’s office one night.
