Where does all the money go? Do the officers share the same living conditions? When I was attending school at NAS Millington we were in WWII barracks , in the middle of the Memphis summer with no AC and legions of roaches and rats. Then it flooded and here came the snakes. :)

When I was in the army in the 1950s, in Basic the barracks had a cadre room for a NCO and the rest of the cadre lived elsewhere. The officers lived elsewhere. In my special unit in Korea, the barracks was the same setup, but the barracks (and the mess hall) were serviced by Korean employee so there was no KP duty. The officers had "officers quarters."
