I think just about every problem like this can be traced back to massive illegal immigration.
I thought you shopped at Dollar stores because they were so cheap. That you did not have to steal the items. Like the cans of expired sardines and expired Vienna sausages and other expired foods. One step above the Church food bank.
Normal people shop at dollar tree for things like cheap party favors for kids, inexpensive (temporary) holiday decorations, etc. It’s not all just crap food.
It does not surprise me that thieves are stealing from this chain. They steal from low end, high end, whatever. The employees aren’t allowed to stop anybody, cops don’t care, the DAs don’t care, and there aren’t enough employees to really watch over everything anyway. we live in interesting times.
Factors are 1) understaffing, as the story noted, 2) abysmal treatment of the part time hourly retail employees by managers with no skills, training, or respect for the employees, and 3) company policies that punish employees that protect corporate assets.
They will stop selling hair straighteners, pigs feet, hot sauce, Philly Blunts, Newports, Kangol hats, Fila sweatsuits, grape drink, etc.
Note gasoline stations pre-charge your credit card at the pump before you get gasoline.
Just arm and train the clerks but keep them from prosecution for enforcing the law like the police.
I was told by a store associate that the pregnancy tests are often found used in the women’s bathrooms.
Maggots living here have taken that “Land of the Free (stuff)” too seriously. We never should have let them take stealing off the list of crimes. Yeah, it reduced the crime stats but it’s breaking the retailers.
Stores will close and you will find nothing for sale in the “Hood.”
As stealing is now perfectly OK, you will get so much of it, businesses will close up and flee.
Stealing is now “reparations.” If you are black, you have a “right” to steal.
So, Dollar Tree should raise prices in stores in Soros jurisdictions an additional 10% for Soros voters to subsidize the thievery they voted for and place a sign to that effect at the entry
In northwest Washington state yesterday early morning, a Ford F350 pickup smashed in the entire front end of a convenience store by ramming the entrance. Nothing was taken.
We have gone from theft to complete anarchy.
A razor blade desert?
Dollar Tree had miserable quarter, company management is chalking it up to a mix of factors:
How about the fact that that they are no longer “Dollar” Tree. Used to count on all items there being a dollar. I used to stop there as its next to the grocery store I normally use. After they increased prices I found they charged more for certain grocery items than the grocery store.
Also there is rarely anyone manning the register, you often have to go find someone to check you out at slow periods. And never more than two workers on a shift anymore and they are usually unloading trucks or stocking.
Surely the in-store theft (or the from-store theft, if you will) is a huge problem, but I’d be curious what the numbers are from warehouse theft and truckjackings, and how those last numbers compare and trend.
A huge portion of retail shrinkage is due to employee theft.
I think the end-game of the Left’s War on Retail is to simply shut it down, as it’s one of the major reasons that people feel they need to own a car. It’s also easier to track what people are buying if it is known where the items are being delivered.
Suntan lotion is still available on open shelves.
