It will come as more bad news to Louisianans, but it nonetheless may be another reflection of the changing climate: A team of scientists say hurricane season should be even longer.

The research team made up of climate scientists say the season, which spans six months from June 1 to November 30, is not long enough anymore.

One of the scientists is state climatologist and LSU professor Barry Keim. Keim says that they began looking into this in 2020 -- the most active hurricane season on record -- because they noticed that named tropical storms were more frequently occurring outside of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Atlantic forecasts developed significantly during WW2. The Brits were very successful in plotting Atlantic storms and the US picked up on it quickly. By the mid 50s USCG, Navy and USAF aircraft flying out of Texas, LA, FL, PR, Virginia Virgin Islands and the Azores had made storm study pretty dependable.

This is so awkwardly worded - it is as though the hurricanes will come - or not come - during certain time periods depending on what these scientists decide.

Football season, baseball season and hockey season are already too long. Let’s not do the same with hurricane season.

The research team made up of climate scientists

Well, there's the problem right there.

“Should hurricane season be longer?”

I bet Emily Litella would have some choice opinions about that!

I remember droughts in the 1960s and 1970s in which people in the South were praying for a hurricane!

One year a hurricane came into Texas and gave them a good drenching during a drought. It dumped all it had on Texas and we never got a drop!

Another time a hurricane came into Mississippi-Alabama, dumped rain all the way into West Virginia causing massive floods.

“Should hurricane season be longer?”

That’s crazy talk! who would want MORE hurricanes? If anything, hurricane season should be shorter so there’d be less hurricanes ...

It was deliberately worded that way to scare people. Remember, the left depends on low-information voters who will swallow up this logically absurd premise.
