Sylmar and Northridge were 6.6 and 6.7 quakes. I was 50 miles away from both and both times I thought that this was The End.
One point on the Richter scale means a quake 10 times more powerful and those Turkish quakes were beyond that.
The Northridge one was wild. I lived in the hills above the Valley and was looking at the water fly out of my pool. Sounded like a freight train in my kitchen.
Yep. I’ve seen it rock so hard, chandeliers swinging so violently they chip away at the ceilings, with parked vehicles bouncing off the ground in parking lots.
