Well I'm a woman and I have a different approach in understanding women today.

Woman lost their equality in the garden....part of the punishment was...”And your desire will b to your husband and h shall ‘rule’ over you”......Women have a distinct sense of that loss even if they can't identify it and therefor ‘kick’ against it.

....However as a Christian woman you understand that thru Christ we regained equality with the understanding that God has a natural order within the family and we are most content when we recognize this ‘mutual respect’ for the roles we have and honor this in our relationships.

Needless saying women without Christ will only increase their objections toward men and become more demanding.....add in the leftist ingredient and it can be nothing more than a messed up way of looking at life and the world...they NEED a target.

I suspect many would disagree with me on this - but won't be the first time how I think and reason isn't popular. Ha!

Thanks for being brave enough to respond.

Here is the Catholic version of Genesis 3:16 which deals with G*d’s sentencing of Eve:

16 To the woman he said: I shall give you intense pain in childbearing, you will give birth to your children in pain. Your yearning will be for your husband, and he will dominate you.

It’s translated differently in other bibles. I suppose we could pick and choose, or else go to the original Hebrew if we were that concerned.

I am always curious why it seems that the bible can be viewed as tending to discriminate against women, and in particular, women leaders. I think it is simply a reflection of the social customs of ancient Israel and with Paul, ancient Rome and Greece. Alternatively, the interpretation that the bible discriminates against women is mistaken, and the passages are misinterpreted. There is also the question of biblical “canon” in which the case for discrimination against women (i’m thinking of mary magdelene for one prominent example) can be more readily made.

I dunno. All other things being equal, I would personally be in favor of equal rights. Anyways I have lived and worked internationally and I have been told along the way that Americans (men and women) are spoiled because they have not been invaded for 200 years. Thus, Americans (men and women) have become complacent and shallow thinkers.

so, one solution would be to let an invasion happen. it seems that anything substantially less would not help some women and some men understand that their current burdens (whatever they may be) are inconsequential compared to the horrors of full scale war.

if we could pinpoint the time when we lost our way, it might be at the beginning of the declining birth rate in modern times (because a crude birth rate has been declining since ~1830 and that seems subjectively too early to be directly relevant to all of this). In modern times, the post WWII birth rate peaked in about 1955 and has been declining ever since. That is interesting since the Pill was not in use until 1960. Hmmm.
