Russia is not really a large country. The population is less than the Indonesian Island of Java.

Well, it has the largest population in Europe, many times that of any of its neighbors. Not sure the population of Java - or Sumatra, for that matter - has any relevance to them.

The NATO/Euro Population is more that twice that of Russia and the GDP is say 24 times that of Russia
