The scenes with Edward and Lila going up the stairs to Heaven make me cry like a baby. Editing does such a terrific job creating that type of scene. They have a great crew.

Burgi is great but he went against the oh, so might Covid protocol at the time. I’m a HUGE fan or Robert Newman. He’s one of my all time favorite soap actors and a really, really nice guy in person. Nancy is one of the nicest actors I know but she has become a commie Karen. Even the fans don’t like her. I’m glad I left the business because I would have been fired years ago LOL.

You are probably wrong. She was on the show before that nonsense began and Freepers who watched the show said she was a good actress.

Here’s the scene.

Oh, wow. Very touching, in hindsight. Almost as if she knew. Thanks for the link!

“No cause of death was given but I suspect it was due to one of the following:
1. Diabetes,
2. High blood pressure,
3. Hypertension,
4. Heart attack/Stroke,
5. Choked to death on the turkey leg she tried to swallow in a single bite.”

Only one?

Agree completely about the wrecked Burgi storyline. I never thought Robert Newman was that great on ATWT -- he was the leading man in one of those soap opera "love of my life" relations with leading lady, Reva (Kim Zimmer), who had been married to every male in the cast at one time or another, including his father and brother, IIRC—like Brooke on BB or Sharon on Y&R. By the time Reva got around to Josh (Newman), it was hard to see how anyone could still find her character attractive. Incest seems to be okay on soap operas as long as it is by marriage.

One other character I really liked who was dumped from Y&R was Donny Boaz, native of Texas, who is a very manly, friendly guy and who played Chance at the time he and Abby fell in love. Boaz liked Trump, but Braeden hated Trump and wanted Boaz gone. That sad sack wimp they have playing Chance now is not believable as a battle-hardened veteran and undercover operator, even one with PTSD. Now he's getting dumped from his marriage, after being a cuck and letting his child be in joint custody with his wife's surrogate baby daddy. Y&R writers hate normal parent-child relations.

Donny Boaz

I agree 100% about Danny Boaz. He’s a man’s man - I can’t stand the new “Chance”. He’s as boring as “Abby” and such a wimp. I do like “Abby” real life husband Justin Gaston when he pinched hit as “Chance”. Also, I loved the early storyline of Josh and Reva on Guiding Light.

Burgi...was he the same Richard Burgi that starred in “The Sentinel?” I kinda wondered what happened to him after that.

Oh, I wasn’t judging Robert Newman on how he is as a person (I don’t know him), only that he was not the right choice to play Ashland Locke. Add to that the abrupt storyline change and he just became another one-dimensional villain.

Yeah, how Boaz was dumped from Y&R is really appalling. Frankly, he should’ve sued for discrimination and wrongful termination. I don’t have a gripe against the present actor in Chance’s role. The writing is more to blame than anything the actor is doing, and not allowing him to develop any chemistry with Melissa Ordway. You could tell the whole surrogacy thing was going to be a fiasco, which it was. Killing off Rey Rosales, who would’ve been his friend and partner, also isolated the character, too.

Remember, though, he dumped Abby after he and Amanda walked in on Devon & Abby in delicto flagrante, so he at least didn’t put up with that nonsense. Frankly, though, he should probably just walk away from a relationship with Abby & Devon’s progeny. Seeing the kid would always be a reminder of the destruction of his marriage. Probably better for the character to leave the show entirely because of how the writing isolated/alienated him from everyone else.

“You left out the shot...”

Because the clot shot is obviously responsible for the death of anyone and everyone who dies before the age of 80. /s

In fact, she died from a post-surgical infection:

I don’t know; if Boaz sued, he might get blacklisted. I was a woman in a formerly male-dominated field, long before #MeToo or even Title IX, and there were a number of incidents where it was better to take a loss and try to get another job than try to fight, if I wanted to work in that city again. For Boaz or anyone in Hollywood to try standing up for a conservative political preference is career suicide.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the Chance character. He’s too young for the single ladies (and town bicycles) Sharon, Phyllis and Chelsea; and Noah’s ex Audra is a skank and not a very appealing one like Hilary was before she became Amanda. That leaves Sally, who is too young for Nick, but she and Nick do have great chemistry. We shall see.

It is courageous that the writers are handling the mixed-race issue with the child without making a big political deal. Starting long ago with Kristoff St John, race just hasn’t been politicized on the show, and I appreciate the normalized relationships. I’m wondering if the little Dominic kid actually is a child of Bryton’s or Melissa Ordway’s, since he is very comfortable with them. It must be confusing for a kid that young to hear mere actors spoken of as “mommy” and “daddy.”

What gives you the right to be nasty to anyone who questions the shot? Do you work for the FBI or something?

I figure once they’re fired under such circumstances, they’re already quietly blacklisted. In such case, he has nothing to lose by suing. He could probably get a job for that new network started by Candice Cameron Bure playing “hunk of the week” on one of their tv movies.

Yeah, I see Chance was chatting up Audra at Crimson Lights today. I was baffled by the paring of Rey Rosales and Sharon, since he was about a decade+ younger and he was never going to be able to start a family with her (the same problem Carter Walton has on B&B paring him with these older White ladies whose characters are clearly past menopause).

I’m guessing Amanda is gone from the show now, since there’s no reason for her to return to town after Devon’s betrayal.

I don’t think Sally is too young for Nick, but I’m more disturbed that Nick would want Adam’s “soulmate.”

Bryton James doesn’t have any children in real life. I know he’s been dating co-star Brytni Sarpy for a few years now. Melissa Ordway does have two daughters by her husband, one adopted and one biological. The baby on the show (I’m guessing twins, since usually they need two at that age in case a problem comes up with one) does look like he could be the biological son of Bryton and Melissa’s, being very light-skinned Black with that tuft of blonde cotton, but no relation to the actors as far as I know.

Interesting about Ordway and Bryton James.

I looked up the ages of the actors playing the other "couples" -- Joshua Morrow, 48 (Nick) is 15 years older than Courtney Hope, 33 (Sally). It's a spread; but Joshua still looks pretty young.

Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) is 40; Heather Tom (Katie) is 47, and Rena Sofer (Quinn) is 54. You're right; ew.

Agree that they should find a better match for Carter. Years ago the Carter character was with that very cute actress Karla Mosley who eventually became Rick Forrester's wife, and revealed to be transgender. That storyline pretty much tanked her career-- I think it was too soon for the daytime audience, in view of that couple disappearing to Paris and never coming back.

The "whitewashing" of black characters like Carter seems to be a problem in B&B; and there were rumblings on Y&R. Mishael Morgan recently complained about Amanda's storyline in view of BLM. That is a shame if she turns out to be radical left, because she was among the best actresses on that show, and was the first black actress to win Leading Actress in a soap just this past June.

I've been thinking that if some objective person ever does a Harry and Meghan biopic, Mishael Morgan should play the Megs part. However, that insufferable pair have just saturated the market with so much of their own crap and bile, to generally negative reviews, I guess it'll be a long time coming.

Another issue is how old actually are the characters’ ages. The actors may be playing either much older or younger. The absurd SORAS’ing of characters has been a chronic problem for soaps (and sometimes even de-aging of characters). I think Nick is really only supposed to be around 40 (given when his character was born), and he should’ve been several years younger than Sharon (6-8 ?). When you start trying to figure out the age discrepancies, it can give you a headache.

For example, wasn’t Summer supposed to have been conceived after a teenaged Cassie died ? That would make her character now 16. Instead, she’s about 30. Same problem with many of the other “kids.” The worst example was the decision to SORAS Lily Ashby’s kids from, what, 6 or so to nearly college-aged, making them a decade younger than the actress. The now college-seniors haven’t been seen on the show in several years.

The difference in the actors’ ages doesn’t bother me so long as it doesn’t run counter to their characters. In the case of Carter Walton on B&B, we all know his character has yearned for love for so long and to start a family. But paring him off with characters who are now too old to have biological children with him shouldn’t be happening. Although Heather Tom is 47, Katie is in her 50s.

While there is nothing wrong with him having a friendly and flirty relationship with her, this is not marriage and family material (and even away from Bill, she’s still too tied-in to him - and they should absolutely not have her return to him knowing she’ll always be second choice to Brooke, ick. And what happened to Bill’s burgeoning relationship with Li ? She seems to have vanished).

Yeah, I hated that out-of-the-blue decision to completely alter Karla Mosley’s character (Maya) into a tranny, which presented other problems (in that it was clear as a bell when she first came on the show that she was hunting for her birth daughter after she got out of prison; and the fact there was no way in a million years that Rick Forrester would end up with a tranny). More insulting was that they thought Mosley looked like a tranny. I remember being on some of the now-defunct message boards at the time of the “gender switch” and the Black women posting (fans) were enraged at the storyline.

Of course, as you pointed out, both characters vanished. Rick has been missing for so long as to wonder if they haven’t eliminated his character entirely. With all the family events and problems, he should’ve been making an occasional guest appearance. Last we saw of Maya, she announced they had or were getting divorced, and she has since vanished (along with her sister and all the rest of the Avant family).

B&B, as I mentioned not so long ago, has had a terrible record for writing and utilizing Black characters, so the charge of whitewashing is not without merit. Whole families vanishing without a trace. What happened to Dayzee and Marcus ? You’d think his parents would be concerned after they sent them to South Africa never to return, seems like a decade now. Justin Barber went from front-and-center character after he had a total mental breakdown to being barely an afterthought as a rarely-seen employee of the Forresters. He violently abducted and held Thomas hostage and they’re going to give him a job ? Whut ?

I don’t know what Mishael Morgan was talking about regarding BLM and writing that into storylines. If anything, it sounded like she was throwing anything out there to find a way to move on from the show. Now with Devon and Amanda done for, there is no need for her to ever return. I’m not sure they should’ve brought Morgan back after killing off Hilary to do another hackneyed “long lost twin” story. The Cassie/Mariah thing was the last one before that, and the fans didn’t appreciate it. I saw Karla Mosley briefly fill in for Miss Morgan earlier in the year.

I can’t see Morgan playing Princess Sparkles. Frankly, if you didn’t know her history, you’d think she was White. I seem to recall reading when she would list her race on job (acting) applications, she wrote “White.” For all Meghan’s complaints about racism, they ring hollow given how she used her fair complexion to deliberately pass for White. She only decided to “be” Black when it served her radical ideological agenda. What she can’t comprehend is that folks don’t hate her because she’s (barely) Black, they hate her because she’s a world class liar, gold-digger, family-wrecker and absolute bitch. That Harry puts up with that is even more astonishing and sad. Maybe she’s magical, horizontally.
