"Inner city Detroit, Philadelphia, St.Louis, Chicago... so many democrat hellhole cities."

The original Disney theme park, Disneyland, is in California. They put DisneyWorld in Florida exactly to get away from the premier leftist hell-hole of the United States.

would that the Democrat party of today was like its 19th century version, the party of States Rights, MYOB, very limited government and a small national military establishment.

Joel Chandler Harris grew up poor in Eatonton, Georgia where he heard the stories from the black folks and a real life Uncle Remus figure. He just wrote down the stories he actually heard being told by blacks, stories based on authentic African "trickster" tales. We can be thankful Harris did so, otherwise the stories would have been lost.

What Iger is doing is condescending and racist. Iger is assuming that black people can't understand or handle their own history.

I cannot imagine Davy Crockett, Indian fighter and white colonialist aggressor having any place in the woke Disney pantheon.

You are both most welcome, but see post #45 for a better copy (restored — sound quality also much better):

I believe Walt Disney went with Florida for two reasons - one to control the area around the park. California became a flea market of rip off places around the park - and Two - because EPCOT really WAS suppose to be an experimental city of tomorrow. Domed city, moving walkways an 8th wonder of the world. After Walt died the project was dumped as ‘not possible’...

“Indian fighter...”

You said it yourself right there. The American Indians that were in the film were portrayed as savages and should be killed on sight when there was a problem in the area many times caused by the settlers that took over tribal hunting lands and pushed the tribes off their home lands many times trying to force them on to reservations when the tribes had been successfully living on those lands for a couple of thousand years. This changed their lives and cultures completely. So who’s the intruder here? And a lot of the northern lands were for the mining of gold and sport killing of buffalo, not land use.

The settlers did the same thing with the war in Texas as they fought Mexico for Mexican land. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, that brought an official end to the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), was signed on February 2, 1848, at Guadalupe Hidalgo, a city north of the capital where the Mexican government had fled with the advance of future U.S. forces. By its terms, Mexico ceded 55 percent of its territory, including the present-day states California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, most of Arizona and Colorado, and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming. Mexico also relinquished all claims to Texas, and recognized the Rio Grande as the southern boundary with the United States. The death of Davy Crocket was in the film at the Alamo even though it was not shown. And at the time of the war, the US was not going to annex Texas or the other states into the nation. That was decided later. So the area now called Texas was nothing more than a civil war with Mexico so they could be their own country. In other words, insurrection not two countries going to war.

Song of the South is the first movie I remember seeing as a kid (at the drive-in when I was about 5).

When I read the thread’s headline, I couldn’t think of any reason why this ride would be in any way inappropriate. Dumb me. In all my visits to Disneyland, I never once associated it with Song of the South. I just thought they were cute animals. And I bet very few people associate it with Song of the South and that very few people even know anything about the movie.

I stopped going to Disneyland before the wokeness appeared. What drove me away was the long lines. My 8 yr old granddaughter (whose other set of grandparents live in Orlanado) was just talking about waiting in line for 2 hours for some ride. I’m not going to do that.

When I was a kid, when we went to Disneyland we got a book of A, B, C, D, E tickets. E tickets were for the “big” main attraction rides. A tickets were for the smaller rides. We were limited to the # of rides we could go on by the # of tickets. It was kind of fun figuring out which rides we most wanted to go on. Lines weren’t as long. Today you’re limited to the # of rides you can go on by the length of the lines. Waiting an hour or two in line for a 5 minute ride isn’t my idea of fun.

Disney’s returning CEO is mentally and doesn’t know it yet. Splash Mt. is a fun ride though Space Mt. is best.

Disney World, where you spend $1000 to a WOKE company. Walt decided he wants to stay frozen until Disney goes bankrupt. 🤓

Just rename it “Split Tail Lick” and all would be well. Disney has become insane.

I’m waiting for another Polk County Disney employees retirement round up, more commonly called Child Pedo Sting by your friendly Grady Judd of Polk County, Florida. 🤓

Thanks for the link. I had never seen the film.

How could anyone object to that charming little film?

Are Disney employees disappointed that Uncle Remus didn't try to molest hot little Johnny?
