I recently watched some of a fawning video about Jackie’s heroic behavior during the aftermath of the assassination. It was pointed out that she would not allow JFK to be autopsied by anyone other than the Navy. The Dallas medical examiner even blocked the door to keep people away from the body, so that the chain of evidence wouldn’t be broken, but the feds won that skirmish. There was no legal reason for anyone other than the Dallas ME to do the autopsy. Before ME Rose died, he said that a lot of the conspiracy theories wouldn’t have happened if they’d just followed protocol.

Ya. I don’t think Jackie could override Texas state law concerning murder autopsies (and especially murder of a sitting President). Those guys were almost drawing guns with each other. (Would Jackie really have sanctioned what could have turned into a gun battle over who had control over JFK’s body?)

Understatement.
