Has Disney learnt its lesson? Entertainment giant stays silent on SCOTUS leak indicating end of Roe v Wade after CEO’s meddling in Florida’s so-called Don’t Say Gay bill saw share price plummet nearly 20%

Disney's silence on a leak suggesting the US could end nationwide legal abortion has triggered speculation it has learned to keep quiet after meddling in a controversial new Florida law.

Protests have sprung up throughout the country in big cities as well as small towns since Politico released a draft decision last week showing that the conservative Supreme Court majority would put an end to the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling giving women a constitutional right to terminate their pregnancies.

But Disney - which has previously spoken out against laws that would prohibit abortions - has yet to issue a statement after it saw its stocks plummet 20 per cent following its public opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education Bill - also known as the Don't Say Gay Bill.

Disney said in March that it would suspend political donations in the state and added that it would in turn support organizations working to oppose the new law.

But the entertainment giant's interference prompted ferocious blowback that has seen Disney suffer financially and politically.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his fellow Republicans have since lashed out at Disney, and the company's huge Walt Disney World Resort is now losing its self-governance status in the state.

Its stocks have also plummeted nearly 20 percent since CEO Bob Chapek first issued a statement opposing the bill on March 11 and by Sunday, shares for the media conglomerate were trading at $110.29 - down a whopping 67 percent from the same time last year, when it was trading at $184.84.

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger had previously spoken out against bans on abortion.

Nothing like a 2X4 to the teeth to focus one’s attention. Caving to the demands of the woke mob over the interests of your shareholders is inherently cowardly. I don’t think it will take too many woke corporations getting smacked right upside the head to get corporations back in their lane.

Look at how a corporation is set up versus a private company. Doesn’t the corporation technically meet the definition of a government? And isn’t it illegal in this nation or any nation to just create your own government?

Every time a woman aborts a child, Disney loses a future customer.

When you step back and think about it rationally, why in the hell should Disney want to promote baby-killing? Their entire business model is based on peddling their crap to the kiddies. Every abortion is one less ticket sold to Toy Story 6, one less kid packing a Minnie Mouse lunch box, etc. etc. Of course, rationality is not the strong suit of the woke liberals.

My guess is that Chapek is doing it out of conviction, and his hand-picked board will back him to the hilt. Disney’s market cap is $200b. There are few corporate raiders big enough to make a run at Disney. Bottom line, Chapek will do whatever he wants. Given the tenor of what went on before, expect big time Disney initiatives supporting Roe v Wade.

The irony of it all.

I mean I wouldn’t expect Cracker Jack to comment on a capitol gains tax bill. Isn’t it amazing how we’re so far gone this is so surprising?

Has Disney learned its lesson? Not a chance.

They’re just being politically pragmatic for the moment, but so long as their organization is infested with the types of insane leftists that were exposed in the leaked internal videos, there is no hope for that company.

They’ll likely just continue to pander to their “woke” employees, and keep shifting their products further toward the politics of twisted leftists. The only way that Disney could repair its relationship with normal Americans, the ones who aren’t sexual deviants or deranged mental cases, would be to issue a sincere apology for all current and past injection of leftism into their products, expunge every shred of “wokism” from its parks and other products, and fire every last employee who wants to push a secret agenda of indoctrinating children in their own sexual deviancy.

Disney will never do any of that, of course. Once a company or institution has been infiltrated by leftist insanity, especially when it involves homosexual/transgender/LGBTQIA++ degeneracy, it never comes back. The usual path after that is that normal Americans abandon it and the company discovers too late that the remaining fringe leftist element is so small that it cannot support their business alone, and the company or organization withers and dies. I’m convinced that the leftist woke sexual deviants know this, and that this effect is sort of their “Plan B.” Their intent is to destroy all institutions that are traditional American icons, and they don’t really care how that is accomplished. If they can do it directly by taking them over and using them to spread leftist propaganda then they’re thrilled, but they’re just as happy if they can just pervert these icons to the point where conservative Americans retaliate and destroy them themselves. Either way, the leftists have eliminated one more piece of traditional America.

Disney is a major child trafficking area. Their Scuba Tours for kids took them to Epstein’s Island.

Yep. The particularly recalcitrant are probably going to need to be hit by some shareholder lawsuits for breach of their fiduciary duty.

The rest will take heed. Politicize your business and states and customers CAN and WILL hit back. The big banks and big tech in particular are badly in need of this lesson.

As someone else pointed out, churches lose their tax exemption if they speak out politically.

$200 billion

a few amusement parks
a television network
some movies

Howard Hughes wanted to buy ABC in 1968 for $100 million as I remember.

I have no problems with corporations lobbying and donating to politicians.

After all, those politicians regulate and can make/break a company.

But corporations have no business being involved in social issues.
