The private conservative college developed the 1776 curriculum, which teaches students about the strengths of America and the Western tradition.

"...produced higher-than-average SAT scored among their students, and produced acceptances to a number of prestigious colleges and universities"

The uber woke "prestigious" universities are ditching SAT score requirements for reasons like this. Being smart is so yesterday.

Wonderful and way overdue. It may catch on big time.

Hillsdale gets no government money and I’m afraid charter schools will get encroached on.

$50 million is just a drop in the bucket.

Good on this governor. We really need to shut down our public education system & go to a charter system. Let parents decide what kind of school they want to send they’re kids to.

We just beat back a $60 million levy for a new high school because the old one was in ‘bad repair.’ However, they were going to turn around & make that old school a middle school. Obviously not in that bad a shape. All because we’ve had a lot of new people moving in, which doesn’t necessarily translate to kids in school. The money lavished on education, to no good result, is a crime against the taxpayer.

There is one of these charter schools near my daughter. We are hoping the grandkids can get in....the oldest is only 3, but it is definitely time to plan for their proper education and my daughter and her husband are weighing all viable options

DeSantis and Lee realizing they will have no voter base in the future unless something is done to free our children from the indoctrination that has been occurring in public institutions for decades.

Public education as it now stands cannot be logically defended by conservatives.

Good on Lee. He realizes there are no good public schools.

Its a smart move.

I’ve always been puzzled by philanthropists who give $hundreds of millions to their universities.

If you really want to make a difference - give $1 million each to 100 different (private) high schools.

American History should be taught from Kindergarten through Grade 12. When the students hit 12th grade, there is a lottery on which students get to work the elections. No more Democrats who have been doing it for 50+ years. Always a high school senior. This way everything they learned in 12 years of school gets put to use for the good of the country. Those selected receive partial college scholarships as part of serving their country.
