Feeling despondent... What can we do?
FR ^ | Dec 28 | Randfan

As someone who has been opposed to the damn vaccines since day one I'm feeling very despondent at the moment.

Our leaders we look up to are seemingly pro-Vaxx and are doubling down even in the face of mounting evidence that they do not work and are dangerous.

I don't want to come across as some crazy person but the next phase of their plan is to inject newborn babies with these experimental shots and then to mandate them.

When does the madness end?

I can't be the only one who is feeling dismayed about all this.

I'd like to know what we can do?

Continue to educate, post, share (if you can get past social media censorship) and promote the work of people like Dr. McCullough in the HOPE that we can reach the leaders within conservative circles.

We also have to offer them an off-ramp.

I can't for example see President Trump backing down.

He's essentially all-in with his recent comments and positions. Scary stuff.

However I believe he needs to come out forcefully against mandates and the injection of kids and contrast his position against the Biden administration as opposed to being praised by them!

It's not too late for him to do this and sincerely hope he will in the coming weeks.

Apart from that I'm at a loss.

Any ideas on what we can practically do are appreciated...

Hide out in the hills like we are doing and planning next yrs garden. Stockpile anything you can and plan ahead for when the vax starts killing off a higher percentage of people.

What happened to all us boomers who “questioned authority?” Or “anyone over 30?” 80 is the new 30. See Nancy Pelosi as an example.

IMHO, it ends with the Supreme Court decisions that follow some time after their scheduled January 7th hearing.

The COVID debacle has certainly shined a bright light on the gullibility of most. That makes you exceptional in a good way.

Basically its trying to accept whatever happens and exercising more self control over yourself. Especially over things you have zero control over.

Its kind of why stopping watching the nightly news makes one feel so much better.

#1 Don't watch tv. It's depressing.

That is the correct answer. The people in my life who get all frantic and upset about the covid stuff are those who watch too much tv. I repeatedly tell them to watch entertainment and limit the news. I personally don't have cable, satellite or even streaming. Most of it is crap. Crap sells, and fear pron is crap.

The darkest part of a tunnel is in the middle. I see some brightening ahead. A huge chunk of the country got up and traveled around for Thanksgiving and Christmas. By car, on foot, by plane and even on cruises (because cooking and cleaning is beneath some people). If the whole country was bats**t crazy over covid, they wouldn't have done that. The politicians know this, which is why Biden is in his bunker and the CDC is backing down on their rules. The boosters are not moving. I read that in Boston they have opened centers and still have thousands of open appointments. Folks are waking up.

the most disturbing, depressing and disgusting thing about this entire covid crap is how fast Americans caved to the utter b.s.

no doubt

stopped by a store today and stunned at how many people were wearing masks (it is voluntary here)

“This has cost Trump dearly with conservatives.”

Trump is against mandates, and in favor of us deciding for ourselves if we want the vaccine or not.

So it is only costing him with the STUPID conservatives.

For young people, this is horrifically bad. It’s never been harder to get started in life. The cost of living is astronomically higher than when most of us started out. For young people who are just starting out, who are easily replaceable in their employment, who have nothing set by yet, “wait 4 years and it will blow over” is cold comfort. The military requires Covid shots. Young men who want to join the military now do not have 4 years to wait. All Federal and many other law enforcement require the Covid shots. Guys who are aiming for these important jobs don’t have 4 years to wait and see either. I know teenagers who are unable to attend universities or trade schools, or who are faced with the prospect of getting a vax or being forced to drop out just a year from graduation. Waiting and bagging groceries to see what happens in 4 years is not feasible advice for any of these people either.

Imagine being 18, 19, 21, and shut out of military service. These mandates, all of them, military, federal, contractor, 100+ employees, university, need to go to SCOTUS sooner rather than later, come what may. Too many people don’t have 4 years to wait and see if this situation subsided or not.

I think we’ll be a bit more happy if he emphasized his mandate position a bit more and a little less on taking “credit” for the shots...

It’s all about communication, isn’t it? Trump is a master at it and if he wanted to can be more forceful against mandates.

Hopefully in the New Year...

I just went and snowplowed my neighbors driveway. That really helped me feel better about life.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My cousin works for the PO - has been doing 80 hour weeks. On one of her routes (rural areas), there are some “neglected” old folks living in rundown circumstances. Her mom makes several different Christmas cookies every year so she asked her to make some extra this year. The extras went into cookie plates for the old folks - Christmas afternoon, she & her folks drove her route & delivered cookie plates.

From an essay (Thoughts in Winter - You Are Not Alone) by Heather Heying (DarkHorse podcast):

I hear from many extraordinary people. So many. Their openness and gratitude and refusal to submit revive not just my belief in humanity and the human spirit, but in our ability to stop this spiral, to return to a world in which we are good to one another not because someone with a credential says to, but because we know, from the deepest places in us, that being good to people is the best way to be—it helps self, it helps other, it helps all.

Don’t take Harry Reid’s passing so hard.

Oh‼️I was wondering why the flag at the fire station was at half mast. Dingy Harry is dead?

(blushing here) I don’t know about all that. I’m just an American and that used to be associated with being a rebel against oppression. Where did our fellow rebels go?
