After this fiasco in Afghanistan aren’t we required to come to Taiwan’s defense? Our credibility worldwide has been severely damaged by what is happening in Afghanistan, our allies are worried, enemies are emboldened etc.

China makes a move on Taiwan and we do nothing? It would be the end of American influence world wide. How would America recover from such a move?

The fear is, usually when a leader hears over and over that he’s weak, he tends to overcompensate and then goes too far.

You misunderstood my point. Yes, I believe we are responsible for assisting Taiwan in defending itself from China, but I doubt we will do so with the administration and DOD we have now. If China hasn’t already bought and paid for them, Biden and Gen. Milley are both too weak and incompetent, if not plain frightened to go to war. So, if I am correct, China has a green light and will not hesitate to sacrifice a million people to take Taiwan back.
