If we were merely concerned with defending the country, our spending would be reasonable. But when your goal is to cram corporatism down the throats of the nations around the globe, the military requirements are much more grand.
I have to disagree. We spent the last 20 years fighting a series of guerrilla wars against tribesmen and insurgents WITHOUT an Air Force or Navy.
We are actually unprepared.
Now is the time to be developing new weapons and tactics against adversarial nations with more robust militaries. China, Russia and Iran come to mind.
This was Trump’s actual goal—not to be pissing it away in some shithole, but be ready so the real bad guys don’t get too froggy.
Biden’s presidency is throwing that to the winds.
