Daniel Craig reveals why he wanted to do 1 more Bond film
GMA via Yahoo ^ | July 19th, 2021 | DANIELLE LONG

For Daniel Craig, 2015's "Spectre" was the last time he thought he'd be playing the iconic James Bond.

"I thought I probably was physically not capable of doing another," Craig, who suffered a torn meniscus during filming, told Total Film. "For me, it was very cut and dried that I wasn't coming back."

However, the opportunity to explore a different side of Bond drew the English actor back in for one last hoorah.

"It's interesting to explore his emotions, because he's a cut-off character. He doesn't feel like other people, because he's a killer," he explained. "On 'Casino' he loses the love of his life, and then the shutters come down. On 'Quantum,' the flawed movie that it is, it's about revenge. And 'Skyfall' is about M. It's about loss. They're big themes. And I think, 'Yeah! Why not have big themes?'"

Didn’t like Spectre. The writing was bad in that one.

Doubtful - he’s richer than sh*t. He probably realized the next James Bond will be a black transgender woman or a black lesbian that’s an anti-gun teetotaler, and he’d better do this film now because he’d never have the opportunity again. At least, I hope he’s thinking along these lines!

Ian Fleming personally groomed Connery before Dr. No filming

Robert Shaw was a GREAT bad man in that movie.

Recall hearing when they shot The Sting with Shaw, Robert Redford and Paul Newman, the ladies were all over Shaw.

If I recall, Moore spent some time as a stunt man and did some of his own stunts in Live and Let Die, the boat chase in Cypress Gardens in particular. I dont know now, maybe I am wrong. But his action scenes seemed good. It was when the scripts got campy and he tried to be too humorous than he failed as a Bond.

Bad scripts and trying to be too witty is a problem for many of the Bonds. Connery and Craig avoided that. Craig really stuck with the Flemming book character and hardly ever displays wit, more like cutting sarcasm. It fits the role better. Connery was good but not as dark as Flemming envisioned Bond. Craig is the cold/dark Bond.

All the Bonds besides Craig relied on too many gadgets. Bringing Q back to Earth in the Craig movies has been refreshing. I think the most gadget’y thing in the original books was the attache case used in From Russia with Love (hidden knife and gold coins).

Best scripts (JMHO) - Goldfinger, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die, Casino Royale, and Spectre. I can barely remember the ones with Brosnan and Dalton, they were that bad.

I disagree, I think Timothy Dalton and Craig have both been great.

“Bond cannot survive in these woke times.”

I am pretty sure I read about a black actor who was being considered for playing the next (black) Bond. I guess a GayBond and a TransBond can’t be far behind.

I like your list, but I think “Thunderball” should be in it rather than Diamonds are Forever (nearly as campy as the Moore Bond flicks) or Live and Let Die.

Roger Moore was pretty good. I hold Roger Moore on par with Sean Connery. These two were the top tier Bonds.

Most of Roger Moore films were pretty good stories with lots of good actors.

Live and Let Die - entertaining, with Yaphet Kotto and Sheriff J.W. Pepper

The Man with the Golden Gun - with Christopher Lee, and I like Maud Adams.

The Spy Who Loved Me - Good villains (Jaws!)

For Your Eyes Only - Lynn-Holly Johnson and her teenage crushes on all the men including Bond was amusing.

Octopussy - Maud Adams again.

Moonraker - Lame

A View to a Kill - Christopher Walken was the villain, but I don’t remember this movie very well.

I think Diamonds Are Forever is on my list because it was the first one I saw in theater. And Jill Saint James was pretty eye catching for a 8 year old. Plenty O’Toole probably woke me to the other sex...
