Teen that flagged manager about George Floyd’s counterfeit $20 bill says he felt "guilt"

A witness in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin said during testimony on Wednesday that he did not feel safe working at the nearby convenience store after witnessing the killing of George Floyd.

Christopher Martin, 19, was a cashier at Cup Foods when Floyd was killed on May 25. He had sold Floyd the cigarettes that Floyd was accused of buying with counterfeit money, which led to the police being called. Floyd later died outside the store after police arrested him, and Chauvin pinned him to the street by putting his knee on Floyd's neck.

Minnesota Assistant Attorney General Matthew Frank asked Martin if he had continued to work at Cup Foods after May 25, to which Martin replied he had not.

"I didn't feel safe," Martin said.

Martin lived in an apartment above Cup Foods with his family and had worked at the store for a few months before Floyd's death.

During his testimony, Martin said he had spoken with Floyd when he came into the store, asking him if he had played baseball, noting Floyd’s size. Due to Floyd's somewhat delayed responses in their conversation, Martin said, he thought Floyd was under the influence of a substance.

Martin said he thought the bill that Floyd handed him was counterfeit due to the blue pigment of the cash. According to Martin, the store's policy made counterfeit money the responsibility of the cashier if they accepted it and the amount would be taken out of their paycheck.

However, Martin said under questioning from Chauvin's defense attorney that he did not think Floyd was aware that the bill was counterfeit, speculating that another individual who had come in before Floyd was "trying to scheme" with the fake cash. Martin said the other person had attempted to use the counterfeit money earlier, but he had rejected it.

When asked what he felt immediately after Floyd's death, Martin said he felt disbelief and guilt for having taken the $20 bill from Floyd.

“If I had not taken the bill, this could’ve been avoided,” he said.

When the Press and Democrats and Juiced Up Department claim January 6th was some kind of riot and insurrection, they need to come clean and prosecute the groups who were gearing up to riot in November if the press announced on election night that Trump was re-elected.

From coast to coast store windows were boarded up the weekend before the Tuesday. There were stories about the threats.

Those threats were all from Leftists who were appeased by crooks.

So tired of reading this nonsense. I am a grappling and self defense instructor. We replicated the exact scenario in class, and I had my knee on my other instructor’s neck for about 5 minutes, with him face down, hands behind his back. We stopped because it was going nowhere, it had no effect on breathing, airway or blood flow.

I outweigh him by at least 40 pounds. While he was uncomfortable, he was breathing and talking the whole time. If at any time he was unable to breathe or felt like he was going to pass out, he would’ve tapped out, like we all do regularly in grappling class.

I would like to see that done in court.

i was thinking the same thing...just renact it in court. You can NOT kill someone by resting your knee on one side of the neck...IMPOSSIBLE...

“so the cashier felt guilt for observing the law and company policy, talk about upside down.”

That is typical for the character of Minnecraponus.

I have not been following this trial stuff very much at all, but from the little bit I have seen, it sounds like all of the “witnesses” so far, have had plenty to say about their FEELINGS. Hopefully when the defense’s turn comes up, they’ll talk more about the FACTS.

Same story I heard. If they worked the same club then they knew each other. If they did and no bad blood then he don’t stick his knee in his neck like that for 9+ minutes. I don’t think that killed him. As high as he was it sounds like he was dying when they arrived. Should have left him the cop car and called a ambulance. Or transported to hospital. Guess they didn’t want him dying in the car. And heard the same about the phony money. Also heard the money may have been coming from china.

WTF do feelings have to do with the facts? If this goes on the feelings will simply turn the trial into a BLM show trial. It is already a clown show.

Floyd was not killed by the cop. He died of a fentanyl overdose at the hospital after the incident with the knee. He was dying even as the police approached to arrest him. He was having trouble breathing and complaining about it before a cop touched him. Perhaps he should have simply been prevented from leaving until he expired.

His encounter with George Floyd was a touching moment.

George tried to “touch” this clerk for twenty bucks.

Miriam-Webster

Touch (someone) For (something) | Definition of ...
: to persuade (someone) to give or lend one (an amount of money) He touched me for ten pounds

The cashier better load up on real dollars so he can pay for all the merchandiser that’s stolen with fake dollars.
