My mother went to Railroad Telegraphy school out of high school. She took a job in Washington DC because she did well with Morse. The day she arrived in DC for the job, my father arrived to wait for his convoy to build to go to Europe.
It was love at 1st sight. He told her, Thelma, I’m going to come back after the war and marry you. She laughed to her girlfriends that night. They saw each other every day before his Convoy left port. They wrote during war.
On his way home, he had my Grandfather send her money for a train ticket. She got on the Train in DC and traveled to Texas having never spoken to any of our family. They were married the night she arrived in my Grandparents home. The train was late, the Pastor waited until she arrived and they were married.
They were married 66 years. Incredible couple.

She has been gone 9 years, my father is 95. He just survived a bought with Covid19 and is regaining his strength.
They don’t make em like that anymore.
I was married to my first wife 47 years. She died in my arms in 2018. I remarried 8 months ago. Already feel like we’ve been married for 20 years. God has blessed us both again.
