Gab came up for me no problems except extremely slow to load. I’d guess it’s because they are way overloaded and never expected such instantaneous growth rates.
Yesterday I was predicting that the DNS system would be targeted to enforce free speech restrictions against conservatives. This will still be a threatening attack vector.
When reporting deaths during WWI, it was, of course, in code. They would give a number then “K” for “killed”. If there were no deaths, then they would send _ _ _ _ _ _._ or “zero k.” But to shorten the transmission, they substituted the shorter _ _ _ (letter “O”) for the five dash numeral for “0” So they were sending “OK” ... and that’s where it came from.

Besides, whoever is going to remember IP addresses instead of English names? That’s a non-starter.
It’s not easy to shut down DNS. It’s a distributed system that’s everywhere.

I’ve got a great Collins S-Line (75S-3 & 32S-3) such a joy to operate. PTO tuning is like silk. It has a mechanical CW filter that does not ring. I love it.
Even built a outboard phase lock loop synthesizer to give it general coverage. (except 2 cross-over points)
Of course I have more modern stuff, but none I like so much to operate.
Using DNS obviously. CloudFlare is just a go between.

LOL I saw a cartoon meme yesterday that said Republicans have been banned from owning carrier pigeons that might be used to send messages.
I’m sure they are frantically growing their capacity. This is what every startup dreams of and I’m sure they architected it correctly from the beginning for high growth rates. Lots of companies use “elastic” cloud services to quickly grow their capacity. Unfortunately, Amazon has a huge market share in such services.
A test run? Maybe, but I’d lean toward unexpected surge in growth all coming from ex tweeters.
It’s up for me, but slow. Too many new users.
My mother went to Railroad Telegraphy school out of high school. She took a job in Washington DC because she did well with Morse. The day she arrived in DC for the job, my father arrived to wait for his convoy to build to go to Europe.
It was love at 1st sight. He told her, Thelma, I’m going to come back after the war and marry you. She laughed to her girlfriends that night. They saw each other every day before his Convoy left port. They wrote during war.
On his way home, he had my Grandfather send her money for a train ticket. She got on the Train in DC and traveled to Texas having never spoken to any of our family. They were married the night she arrived in my Grandparents home. The train was late, the Pastor waited until she arrived and they were married.
They were married 66 years. Incredible couple.

She has been gone 9 years, my father is 95. He just survived a bought with Covid19 and is regaining his strength.
They don’t make em like that anymore.
I was married to my first wife 47 years. She died in my arms in 2018. I remarried 8 months ago. Already feel like we’ve been married for 20 years. God has blessed us both again.

DNS is a hierarchical structure and the systems at the top are most vulnerable.
