A Texas high school football game took a sudden turn on Thursday when a player who'd been ejected ran onto the field and slammed into the referee. During the game between the Edinburg High Bobcats and the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High Bears, Edinburg's Emmanuel Duron was ejected.
After the ejection, he went back onto the field looking like he wanted to take on the referee. He aggressively ran onto the field and slammed into the referee, Fred Garcia, who was unsuspecting and fell to the ground. After the incident, the referee was evaluated in an ambulance outside the stadium for a potential shoulder injury, as well as concussion-like symptoms. He did not return to the game.
According to The Monitor, Duron was charged with Class A assault on Friday morning following an arraignment at the Edinburg Municipal Court. A cash surety bound in the amount of $10,000 has been set for Duron.
In addition, the Edinburg CISD announced Friday that Edinburg is no longer eligible for postseason play as a result of the incident.

That kind of anger will not end well. I forsee prison in his future.
That punk is emulating his NFL heroes.
That’s a steroid kind of crazy...
Probably juiced up.
He’s going to be a big hero to his teammates, coaches, and the entire school.
What a POS. No doubt a Democrat.
Sounds like some one never told no.
GOOD!
Time for consequences.
Heard be was a star player. Guessing he just destroyed his chance for top grade football college.
I suspect if you talked to the cross country, tennis, volleyball, and golf teams, you’d find a lot of character building going on.
Sadly, sometimes sports builds characters ... rather than character.
Idiot not only screwed up his life but his team mates as well.
It’ll be a very short road to a prison gang. POS.
America’s “yutes” are going to be the death of our Republic and civilization, thanks to 40+ years of progressive public school education.
Actually, unless they found evidence that someone in charge on the team failed to keep him from running onto the field, or helped in some way, I think it is too far a punishment to DQ the team.
It doesn’t appear to be in the rulebook, so someone made it up. If you are trying to deter the act, this doesn’t really do it in a rational way. There is nothing the team could have done to stop it, other than run pysch tests on members and reject those that have violent tendencies, which I imagine is most of most teams, it’s what makes you a good football player.
The only way this deters a kid is the inevitable bullying that the kid will get because he costs his team the playoffs, and cost some kids scholarships — people will want to kill him, he won’t be able to get a job, he’ll get attacked on the street. These are all mob-violence types of punishments; we should restrict punishment to our legal system.
This is fundamentally different than a player costing a team a game with a penalty, or by getting kicked out when the player is critical. Those are obvious results of bad acts, and are part of the way the game is played.
You have to admit the LBJ War on Poverty was a total success.
Destroy the black family structure.
Make minorities wards of the federal welfare system.
Looked like a clean hit.
This same consequence should be levied against the states who engaged in voter fraud. One proven instance would be enough for a forfeit of the season.
BINGO!
It's not surprising at all. You see high-schoolers and college students attacking authority figures all the time. Look at all the college safe-space leftist students constantly shrieking and wildly cursing at their tenured leftist professors if they don't get an "A+" on their diversity-studies final exams. Then again, it is kinda funny when leftists curse out other leftists. But still, the millennials' & Gen Z's total lack of respect for authority figures. Sad.
