Hello Fellow FReepers, I have been posting several articles via their HTML source. I notice that apostrophes are not being rendered correctly after the article is posted. I see two square marks in the place of the apostrophes.
Does anybody notice the same weird thing?
Liz Claman has very amble apostrophe’s
I posted the twelve apostrophes and it seemed to work okay.
Are you series?
Yeah, pretty hard to miss that. I would have thought Mr. Robinson would have noticed it, and hopefully is working on it. 8>)
Exclamation point check!!!
First, you loose the sarcasm about correct grammer, speling, and word yousage.
I’m seeing a lot of that since the move. Never saw it before. Change fonts? (can we do that?)...
Right-click, Paste as Plain Text
Adding a few of these to my daily.
Since I disabled spell check, auto correct, and auto complete on my device, I’ve had lots fewer problems on this and other sites. It changed FBI to FIB, they’re to They’re, were to we’re, and many other incorrect words that I had to correct. Disabling those features made life much simpler. The issue was with my device, not with sites I visited.
I can see clearly now after the rain is gone.
I can see clearly now after the rain is gone.
Yes, it happened right after the “update” a couple of days ago.
Yes...
My Windows 10 - Edge Browser computer "sees" HTML symbols on Free Republic almost every day.
I see them on posts by Freeper "Ransomware" all the time.
My own quote marks and apostrophes are subject to quantum entanglement on FR Comments.
For instance, if my Comments pass the FR spell check, my quote marks are curled like two commas.
If my Comments fail the FR spell check, then my quote marks are both straight verticals, which is what they are set to display.
Completely weird.
Hughly series.
"Does anybody notice that HTML apostrophes are not being rendered properly in our FR posts?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another FReeper attributed the odd characters to "Unicode errors" that followed the FR server migration.
What I noticed was mis-parsing of HTML "ampersand codes" --- like the "non-breaking space" -- " "... that I use to center the "red pill" icon beneath my FRName...
That, (obviously) is now fixed.
Thanks, John!
“It’s ridiculous that this site can’t even render text properly. It’s been a problem for years”
I find that it works fine for original comments; it only changes the “cut and paste” posts, and i rather think it’s not a bug, but a FEATURE. I can tell at a glance if something is original or copied.
It’s not a feature, it’s a shi*tty bug. Find me one other site, that’s text-based no less, that can’t properly render UTF8 text.
How do you pronounce HTML?
Not sure it's rather hit meal.
And i could tell in an instant that your comment was original!
