Former President George W. Bush congratulated President-elect Joe Biden in a phone call Sunday and said that, while President Donald Trump has the right to pursue legal challenges and recounts, the 2020 race was "fundamentally fair" and "its outcome is clear."
The gesture by Bush, the only living former Republican president, was a break from his party's outgoing president, Trump, who has so far refused to concede the race.
In the statement, Bush said he had called Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Sunday.
"Though we have political differences, I know Joe Biden to be a good man, who has won his opportunity to lead and unify our country," Bush said. "The President-elect reiterated that while he ran as a Democrat, he will govern for all Americans. I offered him the same thing I offered Presidents Trump and Obama: my prayers for his success, and my pledge to help in any way I can."
Bush also offered congratulations in the statement to Trump "on a hard-fought campaign," nodding to his "extraordinary political achievement" of winning the votes of more than 70 million Americans, the second-most in history behind Biden. "They have spoken, and their voices will continue to be heard through elected Republicans at every level of government," Bush said.

He has completely humiliated the Clintons and Jeb Bush in particular and then obviously him being president to compare to George W. Bush and his pathetic Ness has made Bush appear smaller and smaller by the day
There is no turning back the clock and I don’t regret any of my votes for Bush twice or mittens or MCinsane
What we have seen however is that it has had to come down to trump the true conservative implementing a true conservative agenda versus the talkers all of the old Republicans
the national review crowd who always wanted to talk a good game but could’ve never would ever get anything done
including winning elections most of the time
Important thing to understand about the old Republican scene as they all saw the Democrats as being on the same team
I don’t think there’s any doubt that President George W. Bush and President Clinton see themselves is on the same team dinners for Barack Hussein Obama
But now if America has the two teams -the red and the blue ; the conservative and the liberal; the Republicans and the Democrats
Then the real agenda of those two teams has become much further apart in recent months or years
Right now the republican party has become much more a party of the workingman America first American jobs unshackling the economy de regulation lowering taxes and being the party of the people
Furthermore the Republican party has made an important point of trying to reach out more to women blacks and Hispanics in particular and help them realize that the Republicans are not the bogeyman that the Democrats have tried to make them out to be for years in quite a comical way
Racist sexist homophobic xenophobic blah blah blah blah blah we called Hillary on tape during the election and 16 at this became an infamous “and the inspiration for many “les deplorables “ mottos movies songs and everything else
She really stepped in it by saying that us Trump supporters were terrible horrible things and were “irredeemable”
Politicians regularly throughout insults but that was particularly offputting and insulting to absolutely millions of Americans
Contrary mittens comment in 2012 that 47% of the people who get government subsidies will never vote for me
The Democrats made quite hay Out of that of course and it was easier than anything on the planet to paint mittens as an out of touch rich white Republican check pants loser versus the young slick talk in black guy Obama

I mean if you look at Joe Biden just on the campaign trail this time he had some real beauties like “if you ain’t voting for me you ain’t black” and “you dog faced pony soldier”
