Why on Earth would you be giving medical advice out like this? You have absolutely no idea who this person is or what possible underlying conditions she might have.

Your advice could literally KILL someone! It is BEYOND irresponsible to provide this level of misinformation.

A young athlete will no doubt do well. Anticipate the possibility of a fever lasting many days.

Watch your blood sugar if you’re diabetic.

And let the coach know.

Daughter returned from a LAX tourney. Likely a very healthy young adult. Very low risk. And the “professional” recommendations for young adults was to keep them hydrated at home possibly with a script for fever reduction.

SisterK’s post wasn’t reckless. But to your point, better safe than sorry — at least make the tele-doc call.

The overlooked issue, however, concerns the nearby elders.

Welcome to FR.

The blanket advice to avoid the hospital certainly is. While it is highly likely that a young person with no known underlying conditions will fully recover without medical assistance, it is not impossible that she could require it. If the young lady’s condition worsens to where she has any difficulty breathing, they should ABSOLUTELY go to the hospital.

Delaying doing so for fear that the hospital will do a poor job treating her (as SisterK’s post claims) could literally cost her her life. A small number of young people just happen to be susceptible. Some have previously undiagnosed underlying conditions. Treat at home while symptoms are mild to moderate, seek medical advice if there doesn’t seem to be improvement soon, and ABSOLUTELY go to the hospital if there is any sign of respiratory distress!

There are plenty of practicing medical doctors on FR. Find me -ONE- whose advice would be to avoid the hospital at all cost because they’ll just screw up her treatment. I normally don’t get all worked up over somebody spreading misinformation or fearmongering - I simply correct it - but when it comes to medical advice that could potentially kill some poor young lady, my blood boils. It is beyond irresponsible to suggest that one avoid the hospital because they’ll just screw up the treatment.

Also, you’re absolutely right about nearby elders. Everyone in that household is hopefully avoiding public places and any contact with an older person or any other vulnerable persons for the next couple of weeks. I think that’s something a lot of people don’t think about as much as they should.

are you saying it’s useless to try because the medical or scientific belief is it can take months? medicine and science have been proven very wrong many times in the past because results didn’t fit their agenda/evolution/scholarly “knowledge”.
IMO best to do all the good things possible and leave all else to God.

3 liters? heck of a lot of sodium in one day, may not be good for some people.

True - But for a short-term sickness emergency, particularly for persons without other options, “3 liters Tonic Water” is generally:

1) Easily remembered and spelled
2) Non prescription/Non doctor necessary
3) Generally available and
4) Cheap

The “3 liter tonic water” is not ideal, but it is a method to get HCQ quinine into a sick person with no other options quickly.

Gene thank you for your post. 2A and I have met before and she posts like someone highly invested in pharmaceutical stocks. I think her last name is Brix.

Though the family should respect the virus, it is not a death sentence especially to a healthy 17 year old.

I am a little raw these days. One of the young men from our small church went to the ER and was immediately put on a ventilator. He passed away within a couple of weeks.

Weird we have to quarantine her in her own house.

It is important for her to become sicker due to breathing the same air (where have you ever seen an official recommendation to regularly ventilate the rooms and houses of the quarantined?) and a lack of sunshine and exercise, and to share this virus with others in your home, rather than getting outside and obtaining good nutrition, while practicing social distancing for about a week until she is no longer contagious.

For it is politically important that the case numbers climb in order to strangle the economy, and increase dependence upon the government to provide $ it does not really have, thus leading to a dictatorship by revolutionaries as proxy servants of the devil who selfishly lust after power to impose their perversions of what God has ordained.

Research shows:

New research in June by two medical scientists at Stanford University and UCLA found that, on average, a person in a typical medium to large U.S. county who has a single random contact with another person has a 1 in 3,836 chance of being infected without social distancing, hand-washing or mask-wearing.[1][2]

Also it is reported that according to the latest immunological studies, the overall lethality of Covid-19 (IFR) is about 0.1% to 0.3% and thus in the range of a severe influenza season[3] And while an estimated 1,200 children died in the (2012-2013 flu season[4] only 75 children have died due to COVID-19 (reported July 22)[5]and only 2 percent of domestic COVID-19 cases have occurred in children under 18, only 20 children under age five in the U.S. have died because of it, while the vast majority of children with severe COVID tend to have other risk factors.[6]

Meanwhile, wearing masks, while warranted in some situations, is shown to reduce blood oxygen levels (pa02) significantly, relative to the (limited) effectiveness of the mask and length of time worn. [7]And mask-wearing effects extend to dental issues such as decaying teeth, receding gum lines and seriously sour breath.[8]

Also, the great fear of outside contact is hardly rational,[9] with one study of 318 outbreaks involving 1,245 cases in China finding just one transmission that occurred outdoors, infecting just two people. Most of those who were infected and died were occurred at home..[10] Up to eighty percent of people who become infected with the virus have either no symptoms or experience it as a mild respiratory infection.[11] And it is postulated that some in the “no symptoms“ class may actually be immune. [12][13]

As for quarantines, close to half of all COVID-19 deaths have occurred in long-term care facilities, especially elder care facilities which account for over 40% of US deaths.[14][15] Which means that the 99.4 percent of the country that does not reside in those facilities is roughly half as likely to die of COVID-19,[16] even to the fatality rate of COVID-19 probably being “0.13 percent for people outside nursing homes and 0.26 percent — identical to the CDC best estimate — when people in nursing homes were included.”[17] - More

Extract your own quinine from grapefruit peel and add a serving of the mixture to tonic water...for a boost
Many recipes online

Note that quercetin provides some but not all of the benefits of HCQ

I’m pretty sure I had it back in Dec. One thing I did was mix a half teaspoon of cayenne pepper in 6oz of water and drink it. Cayenne pepper is a disinfectant. I use it for a multitude of ailments.

btw, I never changed my lifestyle during the time I had this horrible cough. I went out daily, meeting my friends for breakfast, playing pool, etc.

Thanks for reaching out. Fatigue is her primary symptom. She sleeps most of the day, although slept less yesterday than the day before. She sat on the porch last night with the rest of the family eating a steak. That made me happy, relieved and hopeful. Wife and I get tested Wednesday.
