Probably Asians, they are the only folks who will try to operate businesses in black areas.
Bodegas are a very Caribbean Hispanic thing (they have them in northeastern NJ as well); like a Walmart within a small storefront. Some still sell “loosies” (individual cigarettes); for such small spaces they sell toys, cleaning supplies, lottery, auto accessories - mini-Walmarts...
The woman who got phone snatched at the end was definately asian. Lots of Chinese and Filipinos in NYC. Some Koreans, too.
