The uncertainty around college football has everyone wondering what the 2020 season will look like or even if there will be a season. On Wednesday, Sports Illustrated reported that the SEC athletic directors discussed a potential plan moving to a 10 game schedule consisting of the 8 scheduled conference games and 2 non-conference matchups.

The B10 is doing a 9 game, all conference season, elimination the usual 3 out of conference cup cakes. I have to believe the NCAA steps in to keep things somewhat unified (not that I believe there will be a season anyway)
Why even bother with the Non-conference?.....................
If their aim is to limit the virus, then non-Conf games should be eliminated for this year.................
Georgia vs. Georgia Tech, South Carolina vs. Clemson, Florida vs. Florida State. These are big $$$ games.
Zero games would be fine with me. College football is a training ground for anti American Kneelers.
In a way it’s kinda fun to watch a self absorbed leftist culture implode via its on values.
I’m really glad I left Seattle for a hobby farm in rural KY.
Payouts ia coaching and university ties to help poor sisters....
Yes, they are if people are allowed to attend.....................
This whole thing reminds me of the movie, “Into the Forest”. Only the apocalypse is self inflicted. And discussing how we will handle the college football season, when a lot of people will be wondering where their next meal will come from in a few months is kinda charming.
Yes, I’m being hyperbolic, but you get my point. I think our general culture is in denial of what is actually happening.
To continue on with the hyperbole, the entire population like the people in 1930’s Germany that are annoyed at the big yellow star we have to wear, but it’s just the new normal and we’ll be fine.
At least some of us get what is going on and will push back.
How will college football make money with out fans in the stands?
Amen on that. Except for the rare LSU v. Texas match up most SEC non-conference games are garbage.
Yeah, and the games that midsize and small schools play against the large conferences are important money games to their programs. Without these money games, many of these smaller programs will go broke.
0 down 90 days until first payment, 0 interest for 72 months. Every 10 minutes.
Will someone please tell me what is the logic from a health standpoint of going from a 12 game season to a 10 game season? If you can play 10, why can’t you play 12? What is the Coronavirus impact of shaving 2 games off the schedule? I am beginning to think the inmates are running the institutions.
Exactly. Sometimes, the money State U. pays to “Little Sisters of the Poor” is the reason that school can keep the lights on in the Athletic Department. That’s why those games are played. It all needs to collapse.
They aren’t “student athletes” and haven’t been in a very long time and probably never really were in the first place. People aren’t cheering for representatives of their school, they are cheering for a jersey/helmet design that they got used to. The people wearing it hate them. College football is really no different from the NFL.
This might be the beginning of the end of the NCAA.
The SEC could well decide they’d be better off on their own.
At the vast majority of D1 schools football brings in the money that pays for most of the other sports. Some schools basketball programs (UK, Duke, UNC) pay for themselves.
Without the revenue from football a lot of the other sports might have to be curtailed/suspended until things get back to "normal" on November 4th.
Yes, as if women’s sports didn’t already have enough problems. I don’t know that we are going back to normal. I think they will just keep on revolutioning.
They could eliminate the Arkansas games and give a ‘W’ to the opponent. It is going to end up that way anyhow.
