I heard rioting or looting or burning police precincts or Wendy’s or beating up older white people or trashing neighborhoods or pulling down statues makes you immune.

they must because they are the only things allowed to happen in large numbers now, according to my German mayor

Socializing.

Snort.

Well, that’s a nice euphemism for it.

NYS and its county health departments are also hiding any protest/riot connections to cases.

Summertime. Days are longer. More exposure to the sun. People have higher vitamin D levels. Fewer COVID deaths. Cases less severe. What if people took a vitamin D supplement as Fall approaches?

Guess they pulled out gun shot wounds as one cause of COVID death because the person had it but that wasn’t the cause of death; they died of lead poisoning instead.

My girlfriend is an RN at one of the larger hospitals here in Pittsburgh. Her hospital set up a “Virus War Room” of sort in one of the conference rooms where a team of Dr.’s and health officials would monitor the outbreak and confer with the other area hospitals. New computers, comms, etc. That room has not been occupied, not even one day, since the outbreak started. It just never got bad enough here. Just the opposite, before the re-opening started happening her hospital, along with others in the area, sent out notices to the nursing staff warning of a decreased availability of Doctors due to having to layoff some of those on staff. Luckily, for her hospital, they decided to start allowing elective procedures and this allowed them to retain MD’s.

The media have changed the focus from deaths to cases. They are waving their hands over the thousands of new cases. Meanwhile the daily death number declines.

More information showing why the “number of cases” is not the number to be watching.

THE ONLY number that has been materially important has always been the death rate, whether measured as the number of deaths per the number of cases, or as the number of deaths per a set number of the population (1,000; 100,000; or 1 million). Well the death rate is dying. Many of the lowest hanging fruit - the most susceptible - have died or are now receiving better protection, while the healthiest and those who don’t get so ill from the virus are most of the new infections.

By the end of the year the medical regimen for treating Wuhan Virus cases will have matured in twelve months as much and as far as did the medical treatment of influenza over many years. And. as more of the healthy population
keeps getting its herd immunity (like MOST of the new cases) new cases will also decline to a point where the Wuhan Virus will be no greater an issue (and maybe even less) for the elderly than is regular influenza, and families will be back visiting their loved ones in eldercare.

Again, don’t let them get you panicked over “new cases”. Just watch number of deaths and do the math to to look at death rates as a portion or all cases. As the actual number of deaths remains small or lowering, and the number of new cases keeps adding up, the death rate - how deadly is the virus - keeps shrinking.
