Were you deployed to Afghanistan or are you assuming families are safe during deployments. Most are, but those living in the community were at greater risk. Especially young inexperienced spouses. I am not sure where SWAT came into this, we were talking military.
In keeping with tradition it would be nice if the first shot of the upcoming revolution was fired from a smoke belching, straight bore musket.

You mistake hoping for preparing.
Understanding politics, sociology, and history and coming to the conclusion that society is melting down does not mean hoping that it happens.
It’s like the violent protestors... it’s not the flashy loud guys up front that hold the mob together, it’s the weenie legal expert organizers that send them out to do the dirty work.
Take the organizers out and the protest becomes disoriented, each man for himself.
Take out the organizers’ financier and they stop dead...but it may require a capture or two to find out who that is.

I understand more then you because I understand how resilient this country is. In the 50s and 60s people knew what you know so they built and stockpiled bomb shelters. In the 70’s when domestic terrorism was at its height and the Cold War still hot people just knew we were headed for a disaster. Damn hippies were going kill us all with LSD in the water supply..
Some of us have to be prepared because we live at the whims of Mother Nature. We have to keep adequate food supplies and medications. Bug out kits at the ready if need be. Guns and ammo in case of looters. Rendezvous points, shelters and sufficient gas for evacuation. That’s every hurricane season for us.
The preppier song has not changed in 30 years, hell The song has remained the same for the last fifty years. One day 50 years maybe a 100, you guys may get it right. But I love this country so I hope not.
