Well, that protest in the middle of a public highway went well. Next what? Block railroad tracks on a blind curve?

I see a man in a white car
Move like a ghost on the skyline.
Take all your dreams and you drive them away.
Man in a white car.

I watched it last night, and just watched it again. The two are in the middle of the road...the one on the right is in light colored clothing, the other to the left of her is all in black. They are both walking. The one in light colored clothes looks like she’s walking right into his path. He hit her first, then got the one in black right after. It is pretty horrific to watch. The sound of the impact is unbelievable. How many lawsuits will there be against the city for letting them congregate on that highway? I guess the mothers of these morons never told them of the dangers of playing in the street. They are dumber than a box of rocks, and the sad part is that they actually think the rest of us would ever let them take over this country. We’d die first.

— Truth Matters (@TruthsOverTrump on Twitter) claimed it was right-wing extremists that drove into the group.

“...enforcing the law on an interstate freeway is the responsibility of the local state”

IMHO, states which refuse to keep protests off interstate highways which impedes / stops traffic should lose federal highway funding.

It’s a case of suicide by vehicle. She was one of several who placed themselves on a highway/roadway. It doesn’t matter, the foolishness and cowardice of the local/city/county/state governship.

Clearly you're unfamiliar with the facts.

The Washington State Patrol had closed the freeway an hour before the collision.

The driver drove past police barricades, drove the wrong way down an off-ramp, then onto the closed freeway so he was going the right way.

Driver swerved at high speed onto the shoulder and drove past several cars that were parked sideways across freeway lanes to prevent anyone from colliding with the people on the freeway.

Driver then swerved at high speed to avoid a crowd standing on the shoulder and into the two women who were hit.

Please explain what reasonable and responsible actions the driver took that makes it okay to hit pedestrians standing on a freeway closed off by the police.

I'll wait...

they shouldn’t have any grounds for a lawsuit. The person in black who stepped into the path of the car has no grounds at all. The deceased one is iffy being a trespasser. The driver was allegedly also a protestor.

What I mean by trespassing is, the ‘femme march’ was supposed to take over the highway for 9 minutes of silence to symbolize how long George Floyd was on the ground. That’s what their permission was for. And this is how long the first few days were. It was also supposed to occur after the 7pm march to the West Precinct, then freeway, back to chop (or broadway an pine new location). So the freeway should have been clear by 10pm at the latest. The group began going up on the freeway later and later, spending up to an hour or more goofing off. But some nites they didn’t go at all. They had a ‘medic’ with them, meaning someone responsible for them, who should have coordinated with agencies as to their plans., No effort at communication was given any agency as the group showed careless disregard for the wasted manpower and increased risk by further and further abusing the privileged concession they’d been provided. Each person on that freeway should be charged with accessory to murder.

Thanks for the details. Seems to me they took advantage of the situation, but were allowed to by the police, or whoever was in charge of making sure they complied with the agreement. How many freaking days were they allowed to shut down this highway? One 9-minute period should have been enough, especially when it comes to inconveniencing everyone else who lives there, and uses that highway. They couldn’t find anywhere else except a main highway to gather? Just plain dumb. And the person that gave them permission to do it, should be fired.

The vehicle cleared a blind curve and the brake lites came on about 150 feet out. He had three choices in that 150 feet: hit head on and die, try to broadside and probably die, or cut around the only opening, the slow lane, and maybe roll before dying. He picked door number 3. He was still braking as he fishtailed, stopped after impact, drove slowly down to the underpass, took off with emergency flashers on when threatened. Pulled over again until threatened again. Still had the flashers on when he reached an offramp and the safety of police.

SPD/WHP had closed the on ramps not the off ramps. The protestors were fully aware the offramps were not closed. One girl livestreamed herself telling her mom how to get on the freeway to join them using the off-ramp. So again, the group knew and can’t after the fact blame off ramps not being blocked. The driver, allegedly also a protestor, used an off-ramp same as protestors have done.

See my previous post that the group just showed up when they felt like it, and expected SPD and WHP to jump at a finger snap regardless of what else was going on, completely oblivious of what goes into closing a multi-lane interstate in both directions. To be noted, a few minutes before they got to the freeway, a female protestor tweet-admitted to intentionally ramming her car into that of an offduty white female officer they seem to have it out for, which resources also had to respond to.

Yeah, I always joke about an irresponsible driver plowing into two women at 50 mph.

Doesn't everyone?

After all, it's society's fault. Not his.

Isn't that right, Officer Krupke?

About blaming the driver for killing two people with his car? Damn straight.

Was he innocent of any wrongdoing?

I think so. Do you think people can rent out the highway for get-togethers?

Let's see if the jury agrees with your line of reasoning.

For your family reunions, I'm sure they'd let you use it for free. Make sure to have the video cameras rolling. We all can use a few laughs.
