The implementation of socialism always follows the same pattern:
1st stage: jubilation and compliments from "intellectuals" (and media pundits) about the "new form of socialism"
2nd stage: after the first failures, defensive
rationalisations and whataboutery from these very same "intellectuals"
3d stage: after the catastrophic failure: the "it was not real socialism phase", followed by collective amnesia of the "intellectuals" and a new, equally doomed attempt in some other place
