Hugo’s Tacos closes in Studio City and Atwater Village, citing ‘constant conflicts’ with guests over masks.

A local taco restaurant closed both its locations in Atwater Village and Studio City Sunday, citing harassment from customers who refused to wear masks while ordering or picking up food.

In a message to customers, Hugo’s Tacos described the majority of their guests as respectful and kind as the restaurant operates with some restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the message said, “staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them” as they enforce the mask requirement.

“Our Taco Stands are exhausted by the constant conflicts over guests refusing to wear masks,” the announcement said.

Signs about the facial covering rule are displayed on the premises.

“When you ask some of the customers, they get upset, they get mad. They don’t like to do that,” Executive Chef Nabor Diaz told KTLA. “At this point, it’s really important for us to put the safety of our crew first.”

You are very obedient to your master as long as it is corporate.

They say you have to wear a mask, BUT, they don’t say HOW you have to wear it. Wear it on the top of your head, on your arm, on your knee, hanging off your ear, etc. You’re wearing it, right?

Well, that’s a different set-up then. I’m thinking of indoor dining, where we are basically telling people to wear their masks for the ten or fifteen minutes it takes them to walk in, sit down and get their order, and then tell them it’s okay to remove their masks for the next half-hour or so as they eat their meal.

Do people’s germs magically disappear while they’re eating?

I believe in the sanctity of private property rights. Owners of property should be able to put whatever restrictions on the use of their property as they see fit. That is a bedrock conservative principle. If you are a conservative you should understand and appreciate that.

Does anyone else smell a rat here? “Hugo” is probably a militant Karen, bucking for a still higher rank (Uberkaren). If closing his crummy restaurant gives him the chance to take a cheap pot shot at his own customers (i.e., normal residents and fellow citizens) who are understandably straining under the collective boot-heel of their ideologically corrupt mayors and governors, and if putting down normal people is what it takes to advance the progressive/anarchist agenda and spread their preferred narratives, that’s what “Hugo” is prepared to do!

“They’re doing it to protect their employees.”

“Probably because they’re sick and tired of being coughed and sneezed on. “

around here, all retail businesses have installed plexiglass sneeze-guards with translation slots at the bottom between the employees and the customers ... problem solved, and they don’t have to harass customers ...

Which is good for no one. Including the insecure anti-maskers.

They can feel tough and independent as they force parts of their local economies to pull back.

True American heroes.

Cloth masks interfere, to some small degree, with my right to be infected and re-infected every few months and to develop antibodies.

Please tell me which of your constitutional rights has been violated when an owner of private property says you are not allowed on his property unless you're wearing a mask.

My housekeeper showed up with a mask on. I said take that thing off. My handyman showed up with a mask on. I said take that thing off. Not one person has walked into my home with a mask on. I was in Ventura for 5 days with my 13 yr old grandson and his friend. We would put the mask on to enter and then take it off inside. No one said a word to us.
