Grassley is historically a solid conservative and if his votes reflected Trump’s margin of victory in Iowa he would vote with Trump 68% of the time. But in fact he’s voted with Trump 91% of the time overall, 92% in this Congress.
So you can’t get much better than Chuck Grassley, EXCEPT when he pulls crap like this. Like Rand Paul does on occasion, and Lindsay Graham does all the time. They don’t personally like something Trump said or how he’s approaching something so instead of supporting the President and showing party unity (like the Dems always do), they have to go find a TV camera or issue a press statement airing their little grievance and making threats to stink up the joint unless and until he comes their way of thinking.
That’s why I said I think Trump needs to publicly slap him down, like you would a good dog who still occasionally does something naughty and deserves it ;-) We can’t be too harsh on these guys because flaws and all, they’re all we’ve got.
