Reopen now and the cases will spike and the lockdown will be for naught.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and though I agree with you that cases will spike once the lock down is over, I don't share your concern that all will have been for naught. My concern lies with what governments will do and what will happen if they try to lock down the citizens again. There are far too many of us who see the current response as trying to kill a snake with a cannon when a BB gun would have been sufficient, and I just can't see them(us) complying with another lock down.

I agree with the Freepers who said that they feel like they are living in another country. It seems that when I go out, people are looking at each other with fear and suspicion. The main stream media's campaign of fear mongering worked far better than I believe they thought it would. I don't see the same level of trust people had for each other returning for quite some time. Especially with the "experts" now saying that it will take over a year for the CV to pass.

For those of you who are terrified at the prospect of CV and what it is doing and what it might do: The world is not a safe place. It never has been and it never will be. We(Americans)live in an exceptional place where much of the fear this world has to offer has been mitigated or removed, but that hasn't stopped the world from being an unsafe place. I would like to ask you, "Why this?" And, "Why now?" What is it about dying from CV that is so much worse than dying from the flu, or cancer or excessive physical trauma or drowning or....I think you get my point. (I probably should have added, "or gunshot"). Why do you believe that it is OK for the government to severely limit the freedoms our forebears worked so hard to secure for us? Is your safety(security) really worth the chains you are willing binding yourself with and insisting the rest of us be bound with? Do you really think the government will easily or fully release you(us) from those chains once you(we) are bound? Look to New York or New Orleans or Detroit and see that they are suffering greatly from this dread disease, but don't react to that with fear and cowering. Rather look to the fact that the freedoms we experience have already gained for us remedies(palliatives) against CV, test that take minutes instead of days or hours to determine if a person has contracted CV, and instead of taking years to develop a vaccine we have developed one in months. God has not spared us from CV, but he has given us an incredible resilience and the means to fight CV, and we should entreat Him for His mercy in this time and fight this thing with everything we have rather than cower in fear from it.

I think the fear that we’ve lost our rights is completely unfounded.

Where are the lawsuits against the lockdowns? Apparently the people claiming we are abrogating our rights don’t have the conviction to even challenge it in court. The precedents wouldn’t be favorable to them. But those precedents have been there for 250 years, and nobody was challenging them 3 months ago.

I do see lawsuits against businesses, such as the one against Walmart, because employees got the virus after Walmart didn’t take any preventative measures.

A politician won’t be able to order a lock down without a pandemic. So relax. Go get your herd immunity, put those around you at risk. But you’re economy is not going to come back until people feel safe about shopping in crowds and going to restaurants. So you can do it the right way or you can do it the half-assed way.
