A 69-year-old Bayonne man hospitalized since early Sunday said he’s frustrated he is still waiting on test results that will confirm a suspected case of coronavirus.

But Albert “Al” Ammarito said he believes the anti-malaria drug he has been taking since Tuesday appears to have eliminated his fever and relentless dry cough.

“If you were to look at me today, I am 100 times better than I was yesterday,” Ammararito said in a telephone interview Friday evening from his bed in an isolated room at Jersey City Medical Center. “I am feeling fine.”

Hydroxychloroquine, the decades-old medication used to treat malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, was the focus of President Trump’s remarks at the daily press briefing Thursday and Friday. Trump called the drug a “game-changer” in the fight against the pandemic. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, clarified that the drug would need to go through clinical trials before the federal government could determine whether it was a safe and effective treatment for COVID-19.

However, hospitals and physicians have been administering the drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine as permitted for off-label use since the fast-spreading virus is expected to soon overwhelm the nation’s healthcare system.

[business insider is a bad source for anything because it’s nothing but an uber-lefist propaganda organ ...

the truth of the matter is that both Teva and Mylan announced a few days ago that they’re gearing up the manufacture millions of pills of hydroxycholorquine and DONATING them to hospitals ...]

The other unspoken concern is that not enough people might die and Orange Man might end up looking good, thereby causing a Reagan scale landslide in favor of the GOP. That would not be good for the Democratic agenda.

The U.S. patent number US 7,220,852 B1 w issued for the SARS-COV genome in 2007, applied for in 2003, covers the period in which the primate testing with chloroquine to treat SARS-COV occurred. The CDC is listed in the Assignee box. This patent appears to be recently expired.

This patent may have encumbered anyone seeking to further develop a treatment for the Coronavirus family of diseases, based on work associated with that outbreak. SARS receded into the background after the outbreak of 2002-2003. The connected research has now become applicable to the current viral outbreak, and is not limited by this prior patent. New vaccines will obtain patent protection, and a price tag to cover development costs.

And what the heck is wrong with hope from anecdotal study. Dr Faucci and other doctor experts want to be perceived as the experts and don’t like their god-like status challenged.

no doubt that’s what the ultra-left may be praying for, but the U.S. medical community won’t kill sick and dying people by withholding effective medical treatment from them just to satisfy the dreams of the left or for any other reason for that matter ...
