Only 42 with no other health conditions and she passed on. Yikes.

Let’s hope this goes the way of SARs and there is no second wave.

“Minnesota now has 137 laboratory-confirmed cases. 12 have been hospitalized in Minnesota with 4 in intensive care.”

Minnesota reported its first death too:

Tonight's numbers from https://www.worldometers.info. Smaller ratio numbers are better. Data not validated. YMMV for informational interest only. Please send a private message if you would like on or off the ping list.

What is Germany’s secret for keeping deaths down?

We can buy gift cards, for several fave/local restaurants online, with e-delivery.

We’re doing this, just to get them much needed cash.

Hoping they’ll stay in biz...not so much to collect on our $$, but to enjoy their food, again, some day.

Sadly, Spain looks to be following Italy.

YVW,

Germany's ratio of new death's to total deaths is still higher than Italy, but much lower than yesterday. If this continues, and Germany continues to keep their total number of deaths low, countries are going to be coming to Germany for advice.

It doesn’t look good for Italy.

My granddaughter and her husband live in Turin. He is a healthcare worker.

They are in their thirties and have excellent health.

Still,I am crazy from worrying about them.

God bless and watch over your granddaughter and her husband, a true hero for providing healthcare to those suffering in Italy today.

I've noticed Italy's new death to total death ratio is steadily dropping, even though total deaths are still rising. The drop in percentage of new deaths to total deaths is encouraging to me. Many new and effective treatments are now known and available. Hopefully death rates will start to plummet. The continual percentage decline may reflect this as it would be the fastest indicator.

Will say a prayer for the both of them. Please keep us posted.

Some good news:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3826909/posts?page=1

from link:

Dr. Paul Auwaerter, the Clinical Director for the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine [finds]: If you have a COVID-19 patient in your household, your risk of developing the infection is about 10%….If you were casually exposed to the virus in the workplace (e.g., you were not locked up in conference room for six hours with someone who was infected [like a hospital]), your chance of infection is about 0.5%

According to Dr. Auwaerter, these transmission rates are very similar to the seasonal flu.

As to asymptomatic spread:

The majority of cases see symptoms within a few days, not two weeks as originally believed.

This is great news! (for most of us - people who don't work in a hospital...

The comment about "If you have a COVID-19 patient in your household, your risk of developing the infection is about 10%" is ridiculous. Were it true, the virus would have an R0 of less than 1, and would not be spreading. If all family members were taking massive precautions to avoid infection, and the only possible transmission was aerosol, then the 10% might be correct.
