To date, there are 20 presumptive positive cases and 2 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania. Total cases = 22.
Counties impacted to date include:
So what gives? Non-confirmed/suspected cases are counted as active cases? Just trying to make sense of this.
They count tested positive by the State Lab, and tested positive by the CDC lab, I assume.
Tom Wolfe just ordered all Montgomery schools, libraries, universities etc. to close for at least two weeks. My junior in HS is ecstatic. It is NUTS here. People acting like it’s the end of the world. Is it?

Sounds like it.

Just imagine the ecstasy the YUTES of Baltimore are feeling now.
So what gives, Frank?
I should have included “county” with Montgomery. BTW-There’s an ice cream truck driving down my street right now. The hysteria is probably wreaking his business like so many other food service gigs.
Just got a call from my dialysis clinic ... no visitors allowed in waiting room, patients only. But no cases of the virus in my county.
Like “they” go to school on a regular basis. My kid has some form of ADD or Asperger’s. He has to be on time or he’d plotz!
“People acting like its the end of the world. Is it?”
It’s a threat to overwhelm the hospital system; all of it. See northern Italy.
Your 16 year old has reason to be ecstatic. Not only is he likely immune or close to it, he has a two week vacation ahead.
Overwhelm the system. LOL
As of today there is not one patient in serious condition in the United States.
“As of today there is not one patient in serious condition in the United States.”
Doubt that and doubt you would have all the information on cases nationally. At the public hearing, the issue of influenza being mistaken in hospitalizations when it’s the ChiCom virus arose. It was admitted that has occurred. It has and most likely is still going on.
What’s important today is how many people are infected and their spreading the ChiCom Virus.
That’s what matters.
bkmk
Not true...but I understand your point
Rochelle super spreader is in a medically induced coma.
And there are a lot of oldies not doing well
the only reason we know the Super spreader is in a medically induced Coma is because of his wife
so it is fair to say we dont know status of others
anyone know what happened to the Special olympics person ?
Montgomery County has 22. We go on lockdown starting tomorrow.
I’m in Bucks County and I work there and also in Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware and Chester Counties, occasionally even further out.
My job involves working mostly with seniors over 80, and with senior communities, assisted living, memory care, etc. We are involved in all aspects of our clients moving into these communities. We have been informed today that at least 3 of our local communities are restricting visitors to essential personnel, nurses, health-care and occupational aides, and such. NO family visiting, and it remains to be seen if we will be able to continue with our scheduled move-in jobs.
My Mother-in-Law is currently in the hospital with a stomach virus. She may be returned to her assisted living apartment tomorrow, but we will not be able to visit once she’s there. Somewhat confusingly, the residents are allowed to leave their community; to go to appointments, shopping trips, visits etc. I’m thinking they will have just as much of a chance of picking something “out there” and bringing it back, as they have from someone coming in to see them. Especially since most outside visits are to Doctor’s Offices.
That's my self-assessment too. I'm not over 80, but I have end stage kidney disease. That puts me at risk for infections. I have to go to dialysis three times a week, and I have other doctor's appointments. I'm pretty safe at home, except my daughter interacts with the public and then comes home to me. We're sanitary, so not too worried there. I'm more concerned about being amongst the sick people out there. I can't avoid going out. I'll die otherwise.
I've been grocery shopping on the weekends like normal, but I can cut those trips as long as the local supermarket is still delivering. (Giant foods, equivalent to Acme)
Prayers up for all the seniors in these facilities. They don’t have many joys left in life, and now they are losing the comfort and joy of having their loved ones visit.
Prayers, too, for all their sons, daughters, spouses, etc. who can’t give them a hug or a kiss.
It’s just not fair.
Prayers up for you.
We have Giant Foods near us that does “Insta-Cart”, where you can order items and have them delivered to your door. Also some Weis and Wal-Mart stores will do shopping for you after you order on-line and bring the items to your car. That could cut down on exposure. We actually did some “pre-panic” shopping (I knew what was going to happen, thanks to the obvious media over-hype) and laid in a good supply of canned goods, rice, pasta, meat/chicken, pet food and yes ... Toilet Paper!!
Thank you.
