youngidiot: “I have yet to see a single russian video in my fb feed.”

Notice how they say the Russian Facebook Ads swayed the election but we’ve never seen them? Why not? Shouldn’t we know what to look out for in the future?

Whole books (Business, Marketing, Political, Historical) could be written about these magical wonders!

Most people don’t change their points of view/opinions based on facts or rational arguments (”dialectic”).

They are more likely to change their point of view based on appeals to emotions and feelings (”rhetoric”).

2) If 'the Russians' interfered in the 2016 election to get Trump elected and to do their bidding (which is not true - they interfered to cause disruption and did not back a candidate), why didn't they continue to 'interfere' in the 2018 elections? They could have averted losing the House to Pelosi and the Dems and prevented investigations, impeachment, etc.!

Thats not the question. The question is how did they do it. How did they flip actual votes from Hillary to Trump if none of the voting equipment is online? Then ask him how Trump won Michigan when massive dem voter fraud for Hillary was found in Wayne Country? Ask if the commies were behind that?

50% of Russian GDP comes from oil and energy.

Why would Putin support aggressive deregulation and new energy exploration in the US? Cheap energy prices directly harm the Russian economy.

A) IMHO the main point against the imaginary Trump/Putin lovefest has everything to do with energy. Whenever you want to understand U.S. relations with Russia, first look at energy.

Russia is almost 100% dependent on its natural gas exports (something Europe desperately needs) and is fairly dependent on oil price to be high (particularly with Russia's alliances with various Muslim nations). This is how Russia all but controls Europe.

A) Obama deserves some credit for signing into law us being oil exporters again. His intent was to keep regulations high to keep exports from actually happening, while being able to say he legally did something against Russia. Trump lowered the oil exporting regulations so that we're now oil exporters again. That, combined with fracking (which many individual American co's can do so we can drill for oil on private land instead of the few crony oil co's allowed to drill on public land) is what's keeping the price of oil way down. Which is really, really bad for Russia and the Muslim nations that almost completely depend on energy exports for their economy.

B) Then there's natural gas. We're exporting LNG (liquified natural gas). That's more expensive to transport to Europe than nat gas coming through a pipeline from Russia. But it gives Europe an alternative to Russia so that negotiations with Russia always keep Russia from controlling Europe.

C) Then there's the Russian mercenaries in Syria who were killed by U.S. troops under Trumps order.

D) And there's us finally jumping into the hypersonic missile development (yay Huntsville, AL!) thanks to Trump. Basically Russia and China have gotten ahead of us on that. And hypersonics are more than just about the missile traveling fast. They're about the missile being able to change direction quickly (thus dodging our missile defenses). Our hypersonics will give us an attacking advantage and make it hard for them to hit our missiles. Plus the hope is that our hypersonic capability will be transferred to our missile defense rockets too (meaning our defense rockets can change direction to intercept their rockets as they change direction). That's not a pro-Russia policy at all.

” If ‘the Russians’ interfered in the 2016 election to get Trump elected....”

If they did, then why did Hilary win the popular vote? So the only place they could have changed the election, if Trump did cheat, was in every state Trump took which was 30. And since he won so many states, why didn’t he win the election in popular vote in the states Hillary took, 20?

They lost the election because Hilly didn’t take enough states to secure the electoral college numbers. In the past, carrying certain states could secure enough electoral college votes. Other areas have grown, they can’t depend on that anymore.

The only thing Russia exports is oil. Fracking lowers the price of oil and hurts Russia due to less hard cash income. President Trump supports fracking.
The democraps want to ban fracking. This would raise oil prices and help Russia.
Why would the Russians support President Trump? If anything they are supporting the democraps.
Fracking also lowers energy costs which helps poor people all over the world.
NOTE I wrote this as if I were explaining this to a Bolshevik democrap, not an intelligent FR like yourself.

For your lefty friend to believe that Russian ads on social media swung the 2016 election, he must also believe that Democrats are so stupid that they let Facebook convince them how to vote.

Don’t expect him or her to change their mind, though. You can’t reason a person out of a position that they didn’t reason themself into in the first place.

I have two friends from long ago who watch those late night political “comedy” shows constantly.
Where the only “comedy” is snark and contempt for others.
It’s just “comedy” but is the primary way they get their news and attitude from.

When I set aside everything i know about politics, and just look at what it has done to their well being and attitude, it is very ugly and sad.

I always thought of myself as able to look past differences and see the good in people, but really they are just kind of gone and I don’t want to deal with them anymore.

(continued) i am very tempted to post a vanity on the subject of these night-time “comedy” shows. I remember youtube’s internal video priority algorithm got leaked, and somehow these shows were at the very top.

I wonder if these shows are viewed as a the tip of the spear for the leftist hive to change society. i don’t have well developed thoughts on this but wanted to start a convo.
