Especially the north.
They’re Euro trash and they thin they’re better than us.
Pop was from Naples and mom’s parents were from Sicily.
Northern Italy...spit...
I bet they had some lively discussions. Lol
Not Italic. Family came from places in N. Europe, the Baltic countries.

Dad was stationed in Naples in the 1960’s. We loved the Neapolitans, so friendly and helpful, full of life.
Could not understand why Dad’s driver was contemptuous of them; in traffic he’d shake his fist and mutter “pazzi napolitani!!”. Then I learned the Italian Army assigned troops to regions other than their home area.
U.S. personnel who went TDY to Germany (a very pleasant drive) began to refer to northerners as `Italian-speaking Germans’; the efficiency of the German & the friendliness of the Italian combined. Even the place names were in German & Italian in the Sud Tirol.
Return to Napoli and it was “we’re back in the land of `domani, domani’”. But I can tell you that in 1970 the streets of Naples were safe at any hour of day or night.
Yes, I know Lega Nord wants autonomy. All we Yanks knew was that when the menu at AGIP or Gran Pavesi on the autostrada switched from tomato to gravy based, we were in northern Italy.
Please try to keep an open mind. Piano, signore, piano!
